Addressing 3 Common Concerns When Starting Your Engagement Ring Journey

Addressing 3 Common Concerns When Starting Your Engagement Ring Journey

Embarking on the journey to find or create your perfect engagement ring is one of the most exciting experiences in life, but it can also come with its fair share of concerns. At Morgan & Co., we are here to guide you through every step, ensuring your journey is as smooth and informed as possible. Below, we address three of the most common concerns our clients face when starting their engagement ring journey and how we help alleviate them.

1. Financial Concerns

One of the most common concerns is managing the financial aspect of purchasing an engagement ring. Many clients feel overwhelmed by price tags or fear they won't find something beautiful within their budget, especially when it comes to custom designs.

Our Solution —

At Morgan & Co., we take a tailored approach to ensure that you get the most out of your budget. This might mean opting for a solitaire engagement ring, where you can focus your investment on one larger, high-quality stone rather than multiple smaller stones. We also offer flexible payment options, with a 30% deposit to commence production and the option to allow extra time to finalise the balance. This ensures that you can focus on the beauty and significance of the ring without the immediate pressure of upfront costs. During our initial consultation, one of the first things we discuss is your budget. This helps us understand what you're comfortable spending and allows us to guide you toward getting the largest, highest-quality piece within your price range. Our goal isn't to maximise what we can get from you, but rather to ensure you receive the best value for your investment.

2. Lack of Knowledge

Navigating the world of diamonds and engagement rings can be daunting, especially with so much misinformation out there. Unfortunately, we've seen far too many couples taken advantage of by other jewellers—often lured in by "cheap" prices that come at the expense of quality.

Our Solution —

At Morgan & Co., we believe in transparency and education. We guide you through a personalised journey that covers all aspects of diamond and gemstone education. From understanding the 4 Cs (cut, color, clarity, and carat) to explaining the craftsmanship that goes into creating a bespoke ring, we empower you with the knowledge to make an informed decision. After all, knowledge is power, and understanding the process ensures that you're investing in a piece that will last a lifetime.

3. Social Expectations and Online Pressure

In the age of social media, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by online trends and societal expectations. Many couples feel pressured to choose rings that meet the standards of what they see online, even if it doesn't align with their personal tastes or budget.

Our Solution —

At Morgan & Co., we offer a luxurious yet affordable bespoke solution that allows you to design a ring that reflects your unique style and story, without feeling the need to conform to outside pressures. Whether it's a classic design or something entirely custom, our team works closely with you to create a piece that feels authentic and special—one that transcends trends and truly reflects your love story.

What to Expect During an Engagement Ring Consultation at Morgan & Co

What to Expect During an Engagement Ring Consultation at Morgan & Co

At Morgan & Co, we believe that creating the perfect engagement ring is more than just selecting a diamond and setting—it’s a deeply personal journey. That’s why we offer bespoke consultations to guide you through the entire process, ensuring your ring is a unique reflection of your love story. Whether you have a clear vision or need inspiration, our team is here to help you create a timeless piece that feels just right.

Step 1: Initial Consultation - Your Vision, Our Expertise

Your free consultation begins with a conversation about your vision. We’ll discuss your preferences, from diamond shapes and metals to your style inspirations. Whether you’re drawn to classic solitaires, intricate vintage designs, or something entirely unique, this is the time to share your ideas. Our bespoke team will offer insights based on your preferences, helping you discover what resonates most with you and your partner. We use this time for you to try on different diamond shapes. We believe that it is always best to see the shape on your hand to ensure it suits your finger size and hand shape.

Step 2: Hand-Selecting Your Diamond or Gemstone

One of the most exciting parts of the consultation is choosing the centre stone for your engagement ring. At Morgan & Co, we pride ourselves on offering both natural and cultured diamonds, all ethically sourced and certified for quality. We also offer a stunning selection of coloured gemstones for those seeking something distinctive. During this phase, we’ll guide you through the different options, helping you select a stone that aligns with your values, style, and budget. We will bring in diamonds for you to view and hand select. This way you are choosing the size and shape that best suits you and your budget.

Step 3: Designing Your Ring

Once your stone has been selected, the next step is to design the ring itself. During this stage, we’ll help you determine the right setting, metal, and design elements to ensure the ring is cohesive and complementary to your stone. We offer various design inspirations, from timeless classics to modern, avant-garde styles, allowing you to personalise every detail of your ring. Our team will provide recommendations, professional drawings and CAD designs to bring your vision to life. These drawings are complementary and can be altered until you are 100% happy.

Step 4: Crafting Your Bespoke Ring

After finalising the design, our master jewellers will begin crafting your bespoke engagement ring. Each piece is handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring it reflects the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. This process typically takes several weeks, as we pour our dedication into every step to create a ring that will last a lifetime. We use recycled gold and each piece is made in Australia.

Step 5: The Final Reveal - Your Forever Piece

Once your ring is completed and after we go through our vigorous quality control, we will schedule a final reveal, where you will see the finished piece for the first time. This is a moment to celebrate and is a truly special occasion. If your ring requires a resize, we offer this complementary.

Our Buderim Studio

Wedding Trends We Love

Wedding Trends We Love

At Morgan & Co, we’ve seen many exciting wedding trends emerge this year that are both inspiring and unique. From creative twists on traditional ceremonies to modern celebrations of love, couples today are personalising their big day like never before. Here are a few wedding trends that we absolutely love —

Dress Changes — From Formal to Party

One of the most fun trends we’re seeing is the bride's mid-day dress change. Brides are now opting for two distinct looks—one for the ceremony and another for the reception. The ceremony often features a more traditional or formal gown, but as the celebration shifts from serious vows to joyous dancing, brides are changing into something more playful and comfortable. Think sleek cocktail dresses, or shorter, statement-making dresses perfect for dancing the night away. This dual-look approach allows brides to express multiple facets of their personality while also ensuring they feel both fabulous and free as the party unfolds.

Intimate Gatherings & Micro Weddings

The trend of intimate gatherings and micro weddings continues to gain popularity. Couples are embracing the beauty of smaller, more personal celebrations, often limited to their closest friends and family. These micro weddings focus on quality over quantity, allowing couples to create meaningful and memorable experiences. With fewer guests, there’s more room for thoughtful details—like personalised place settings, gourmet dining, and unique keepsakes. The smaller scale also means more time to truly connect with every guest, which is often one of the most cherished parts of the day.

Ceremony Friday, Party Saturday

Why limit the celebration to one day when you can spread it over two? Many couples are choosing to have their formal ceremony on Friday, followed by a relaxed reception or party on Saturday. This approach allows couples to enjoy a more intimate ceremony with family and then kick off the fun the next day with friends. The extra day creates space for relaxation, mingling, and extended celebrations without feeling rushed. It also gives everyone more time to savour the weekend, allowing for multiple outfit changes, diverse menus, and different venues for each part of the celebration.

On the Day Content Creators

Capturing the magic of a wedding day has always been essential, but the way it’s being done has taken a modern twist. Enter the "On the Day Content Creators." These professionals focus on real-time capturing and sharing of the day's most memorable moments—think behind-the-scenes snaps, candid videos, and Instagram Stories that guests can enjoy right away. It’s an exciting way for couples to capture the authentic energy of their wedding while giving guests something to engage with as the day unfolds. Content creators ensure that every laugh, tear, and dance move is documented for instant memories and future nostalgia.

Engagement Party Turns Surprise Wedding

One of the boldest trends we’re seeing is the engagement party turned surprise wedding. Couples are skipping the months of wedding planning stress by inviting guests to what seems like a regular engagement celebration, only to surprise everyone with an actual wedding. This trend is full of excitement and spontaneity— guests arrive thinking they’re celebrating the couple’s engagement, only to find out they’re attending the wedding! It’s the ultimate way to keep the celebration intimate and focused on the moment, while also delighting guests with an unforgettable surprise.

Embracing the Trends While Staying True to Your Story

At Morgan & Co, we love how these wedding trends give couples the opportunity to create celebrations that truly reflect their personalities and love stories. Whether you’re embracing the shift to a more intimate wedding, planning multiple outfits for different parts of the day, or surprising your guests with a wedding instead of an engagement party, the focus is on making your day uniquely yours.

As trends evolve, so does our commitment to crafting bespoke jewellery that captures your love’s essence. Whether you’re planning a micro wedding or an all-weekend event, your rings and jewellery will be a lasting symbol of your special day, reflecting the timeless beauty of your love.

We can't wait to see how our loved couples make these trends their own!

A Guide to Choosing the Perfect Engagement Ring Style Based on Hand and Finger Types

A Guide to Choosing the Perfect Engagement Ring Style Based on Hand and Finger Types

When selecting an engagement ring, it's essential to choose a style that not only reflects your partner's personality but also complements the shape and size of their hand and fingers. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you find the perfect ring that enhances your partner’s unique features.

Long Fingers

Best Styles —

  • Oval, Round, or Emerald Cut: These shapes accentuate the elegance of long fingers without making them appear too slender.

  • Bold Settings: Consider chunky bands or intricate settings like halo or vintage styles to add balance and visual interest.

  • Wide Bands: Thicker bands work well with long fingers, offering a more balanced appearance.

Avoid —

  • Delicate Bands: Thin bands might emphasise the length and slenderness of the fingers, making them appear even longer.

Short Fingers

Best Styles —

  • Oval, Pear, or Marquise Cut: These shapes elongate the appearance of the finger, creating a more graceful look.

  • Slender Bands: A thin band helps create the illusion of length, making short fingers appear longer.

  • Vertical Settings: Opt for settings where the gemstone is set vertically to enhance the length of the finger.

Avoid —

  • Wide Bands: Thick bands can make short fingers look even shorter.

Slender Fingers

Best Styles —

  • Round, Cushion, or Princess Cut: These shapes add width, helping slender fingers appear more balanced.

  • Delicate Settings: Thin bands and petite settings enhance the delicate nature of slender fingers.

  • Bezel or Pave Settings: These styles add detail without overwhelming the finger, maintaining an elegant look.

Avoid —

  • Large Stones: Oversized stones may overpower slender fingers, making them look out of proportion.

Wide Fingers

Best Styles —

  • Oval, Emerald, or Marquise Cut: These shapes can help elongate the appearance of wide fingers.

  • Thicker Bands: Wider bands balance the width of the finger, creating a more harmonious look.

  • Cluster or Multi-Stone Rings: These styles cover more of the finger, giving it a more refined appearance.

Avoid —

  • Small Stones: Tiny stones might make wide fingers appear broader in comparison.

Chubby Hands

Best Styles —

  • Round or Cushion Cut: These soft, rounded shapes are flattering and create a balanced look on chubby hands.

  • Wide Bands: A thicker band complements the hand's proportions, offering a cohesive and elegant appearance.

  • Split Shank or Three-Stone Settings: These designs add detail and can help the hand appear more slender.

Avoid —

  • Thin Bands: Delicate bands may not be as flattering, potentially making fingers appear larger.

Large Hands

Best Styles —

  • Bold Styles: Large stones, wide bands, and intricate designs are perfect for larger hands, making a statement without looking disproportionate.

  • Halo Settings: These add elegance while balancing the size of the hand, ensuring the ring doesn’t get lost on a larger finger.

  • Statement Rings: Unique and bold designs, which might overpower smaller hands, can look stunning on larger hands.

Avoid —

  • Delicate Rings: Small, delicate rings might appear insignificant on larger hands.

Small Hands

Best Styles —

  • Round or Princess Cut: These classic shapes are proportional to smaller hands, maintaining a delicate appearance.

  • Slender Bands: Thin bands preserve the delicate and balanced look that suits small hands.

  • Solitaire Settings: A single stone on a slim band is often ideal for small hands, offering a timeless and elegant look.

Avoid —

  • Large Stones: Oversized stones can overwhelm small hands, detracting from their natural beauty.

Bony Fingers

Best Styles —

  • Round or Cushion Cut: These softer, rounded shapes help balance the angular appearance of bony fingers.

  • Halo or Vintage Settings: These add detail and softness, complementing the structure of bony fingers with elegance.

  • Medium-Thick Bands: A band that’s not too thin or too thick works best, adding balance without drawing attention to the finger’s angularity.

Avoid —

  • Sharp, Angular Designs: These designs might accentuate the bony appearance of the fingers, detracting from a softer, more balanced look.

Choosing the right engagement ring style is about more than just aesthetics—it's about enhancing your partner's natural beauty and making them feel truly special. By considering hand and finger types, you can select a ring that not only symbolises your love but also complements their unique features perfectly.

Exploring the Beauty of Sapphires: A Closer Look

Exploring the Beauty of Sapphires: A Closer Look

While diamonds are the most traditional choice for an engagement ring design, coloured gemstones, especially sapphires, are becoming an increasingly popular choice due to their makeup and vibrancy.

Morgan & Co has seen a rising demand for sapphires, and in particular, Australian Sapphires. From deep sea blue, rich forest green and mixed colours such as yellow/blue parti sapphires, there is no end tot array of colours to choose from.

With a Mohs hardness of 9/10, sapphires are only second to the diamond. Sapphires are one of the hardest gemstones and are incredibly durable. This means sapphires are resistant to scratches, chips, and other damage that can occur with daily wear. The superior durability of sapphires makes them ideal for an engagement ring to be worn and adored every day. This makes a sapphire one of Morgan & Co’s most popular coloured stone of choice.

Natural Australian Parti Sapphire in yellow gold engagement ring

Versatility and Variety

Sapphires look amazing paired with other gemstones such as diamonds. Diamond halos or diamond side stones allow you to enjoy not just a pop of colour but also the traditional diamond. Sapphires look amazing in a variety of metals such as platinum, white gold, yellow gold and rose gold.

Sapphires are cut in a full range of beautiful shapes including round, oval, cushion, emerald and also off centre cuts. You are able to choose the perfect shape that complements your hand and skin tone. Book your complementary consultation with us and request for your desired shaped and coloured sapphires you would like to view. Our team will bring in an array of sapphires for you to choose from for you custom made engagement ring.

Value

When comparing the price of a sapphire against that of a diamond, sapphires are more affordable per carat compared to diamonds of the same size.

A Little Trivia About Sapphires

— If you were born in the month of September, the Sapphire is your birthstone.

— Sapphire symbolises both the 5th and 45th wedding anniversaries.

— Sapphires are heavier than a diamond. If you compare a one carat diamond and a one carat sapphire, the sapphire will appear visually larger.

— Australian sapphires have the ability to change colour under different light sources.

Sapphires have always been a symbol of royalty for centuries. Our clients who choose a sapphire engagement ring is a testament to high end elegance and class. Each sapphire sourced by Morgan & Co is carefully sourced either from across the globe or within Australia. We ensure superior quality and that our sapphires are ethically sourced.

Please contact Morgan & Co Sunshine Coast to help you select and showcase the perfect sapphire for your forever ring.

With Love,
Morgan xo

Overcoming Wedding Anxiety: Top Tips for a Calm and Joyous Lead-Up to Your Big Day

Hello, beautiful brides-to-be! I'm Morgan from Morgan & Co, Sunshine Coast's bespoke jewellery design studio. Planning a wedding is a joyous yet often stressful journey, and it’s perfectly normal to experience anxiety as your big day approaches. Having gone through it myself, I understand how overwhelming it can feel when there is so much to organise and get through. Here are my top tips for overcoming wedding anxiety and ensuring a calm and joyful lead-up to your special day.

1. Create a Realistic Timeline —

One of the most effective ways to manage wedding anxiety is to create a detailed and realistic timeline. Break down tasks into manageable steps and set deadlines for each. This approach not only helps keep you organised but also provides a sense of accomplishment as you check off tasks. Remember, it’s okay to adjust the timeline as needed—flexibility is key.

2. Prioritise Self-Care —

As you tackle the lead up to your wedding, it’s crucial to prioritise self-care. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and sufficient sleep can significantly reduce anxiety levels. Consider incorporating relaxation techniques like deep breathing exercises, meditation, or yoga into your routine. Taking time for yourself helps maintain your physical and mental well-being, allowing you to handle wedding stress more effectively. I found that taking long walks with my partner was a great way to catch up and debrief while getting some fresh air and vitamin D.

3. Communicate Openly with Your Partner —

Open communication with your partner is essential during the wedding planning process. Share your anxieties and concerns with each other, and work together to find solutions. Remember, you’re a team, and supporting each other through this journey strengthens your bond. Sometimes, simply talking about your worries can alleviate a lot of the pressure you’re feeling and avoid the bridezilla coming out in you!

4. Delegate Responsibilities —

You don’t have to do everything yourself. Enlist the help of friends, family, or hire a wedding planner to share the load. Delegating responsibilities not only lightens your workload but also allows others to feel involved in your special day. Trusting others with tasks can reduce your anxiety and ensure that everything gets done.

5. Focus on What Matters —

It’s easy to get caught up in the details or organisation of your big day, but try to keep your focus on what truly matters—the celebration of your love. Perfection isn’t the goal; the goal is to marry the person you love surrounded by the people who care about you. Keep perspective by reminding yourself of the bigger picture and the magical occasion you’re preparing for.

Top 5 Wedding Day Tips from Morgan & Co

Now that you have made it through the lead up, let's talk about your big day! Having organised my own wedding and helped countless brides design their dream engagement rings and wedding bands, I’ve gathered a wealth of experience in the wedding planning realm. Here are my top five wedding day tips to ensure your special day is as magical and stress-free as possible.

1. Start Your Day with a Calm Mind —

Your wedding day is bound to be emotional and filled with excitement, so it’s crucial to start it on a calm and positive note. Begin your day with a moment of peace—whether it's a few minutes of meditation, a yoga session, or simply enjoying a quiet cup of tea. Surround yourself with a calm environment, and only invite those who bring positive energy. This sets the tone for a serene and enjoyable day. Remember that all the planning has been done, so it's now time to enjoy it.

2. Delegate, Delegate, Delegate —

As a bride, you’ve likely been involved in every detail of your wedding planning. However, on the big day, it’s essential to step back and delegate tasks to trusted friends, family, or a wedding coordinator. Assign someone to handle the small details, like coordinating with vendors or managing the timeline. This allows you to focus on enjoying your day without the stress of managing logistics.

3. Take Care of Yourself —

It’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of activities on your wedding day, but remember to take care of yourself. Stay hydrated, eat light and nutritious meals, and take breaks when needed. Keeping snacks and water handy is a good idea, especially during the pre-ceremony preparations. Feeling your best will help you enjoy every moment and keep your energy levels up.

4. Capture the Moments —

Your wedding day will pass by in a blur, so it’s important to capture the memories. While you’ll have a professional photographer, consider setting up a photo station or providing disposable cameras for guests to use. These candid moments captured by friends and family often turn out to be some of the most cherished memories. Also, designate someone to take videos of key moments, or have a content creator there to capture these moments, like your vows and speeches, which you’ll love watching back later.

5. Focus on the Love —

Amidst all the planning and festivities, it’s easy to lose sight of what the day is truly about—your love and commitment to your partner. Take moments throughout the day to connect with your partner, whether it’s a quiet moment alone before the reception or a quick whisper during the days events. These small, intimate moments will help you stay grounded and remind you of the significance of the day. I remember one of the most special moments of my own wedding day was reading the letter my partner wrote me the morning of our wedding and I still have that letter and will forever cherish it.

Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life, and with a bit of preparation and the right mindset, it can be a smooth and joyous experience. Starting the day calmly, delegating tasks, taking care of yourself, capturing the moments, and focusing on your love will help ensure your day is unforgettable for all the right reasons.

Here’s to a stress-free and wonderful wedding day!

With love —
Morgan

Planning the Perfect Proposal: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating an Unforgettable Moment

Planning the Perfect Proposal: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating an Unforgettable Moment

Proposing is one of life’s most cherished and unforgettable moments, a milestone that symbolises the start of a new chapter in your love story. At Morgan & Co., we’re here to guide you every step of the way, from planning the perfect proposal to creating a bespoke engagement ring that your partner will treasure forever. This guide will walk you through the key elements of planning a memorable proposal while introducing you to creative ways to ensure the engagement ring is as unique and meaningful as your love.

Step 1: Know Your Partner’s Preferences

Understanding your partner’s style is an essential first step in the proposal planning process. Take note of their jewellery preferences — do they gravitate towards timeless and classic designs or bold and modern pieces? If you’re unsure, our expert team can guide you by exploring their lifestyle, interests, and even their social media profiles to uncover subtle clues about their dream ring.

Step 2: Get the Ring Right

The engagement ring is more than a piece of jewellery — it’s a lasting symbol of your love story. At Morgan & Co., we’ve designed a six-step process to make creating your perfect engagement ring seamless and enjoyable. Whether you have a clear vision or need a bit of guidance, we’ll ensure the ring reflects your unique love story.

Our Six-Step Process:

  1. Enquiry: Book your free consultation online, via phone, or email.
  2. Consultation: Work with us in-person, over the phone, or via video to define your design vision.
  3. Sourcing: We’ll source the highest quality diamonds or coloured gemstones to suit your preferences and budget.
  4. Design: Collaborate with us to finalise the ring design, with unlimited revisions until it’s perfect.
  5. Production: Your ring will be expertly crafted in Australia by skilled artisans.
  6. Completion: Your completed ring will undergo rigorous quality checks before being ready for pickup or delivery.

Step 3: Choose the Perfect Location

The setting of your proposal plays a significant role in creating a memorable experience. Whether it’s a scenic beach, a lush garden, or a place with sentimental value, choose a location that feels special to your relationship. Read our blog on Top Places to Propose on the Sunshine Coast for some stunning ideas.

Step 4: Alternative Proposal ideas — keeping the surprise but allow her to design her own ring

Not sure how to propose while ensuring the ring is perfect? Here are three creative ideas to help you keep the surprise while giving your partner the opportunity to help design her dream ring:

1. Propose with a Loose Diamond or Coloured Stone

This modern approach involves selecting a loose diamond or gemstone to present during the proposal. During our consultation, we’ll guide you through diamond education, covering everything from shapes and quality to your partner’s style and your budget.

Once you’ve chosen the perfect stone, propose with it and bring your partner back to our Buderim studio to design the ring together over champagne. This thoughtful approach combines the excitement of the proposal with the joy of creating a bespoke piece she’ll love.

2. Propose with a Placeholder or Stunt Ring

For those who want to surprise their partner while giving them control over the final design, a placeholder ring is an excellent choice. We offer a selection of stunning placeholder rings at our Buderim studio for a $1,000 deposit, which is deducted from the final cost of the engagement ring.

After the proposal, you and your fiancé can visit our studio together to co-create the ring of her dreams. She’ll have the opportunity to personalise the design, ensuring it’s everything she’s ever wanted.

3. Propose and Visit Our Studio the Same Day

If spontaneity is your style, consider proposing and then bringing your partner straight to our Buderim studio to celebrate. We’ll greet you with champagne, flowers, and a gift to commemorate the occasion.

You can also work with us beforehand to design a ring concept or select a range of diamonds and gemstones for her to choose from during the visit. This approach blends the surprise of the proposal with the joy of customising her forever ring.

Step 5: Plan the Details

It’s the small details that make a proposal unforgettable. Think about incorporating meaningful touches such as candles, flowers, or your favourite song. These thoughtful elements will create a romantic atmosphere and make the moment even more special.

Step 6: Practice What You’ll Say

While the ring and setting are important, your words will be what your partner remembers most. Take some time to reflect on your feelings and practice expressing them. Whether it’s a heartfelt declaration or a story about your journey together, speak from the heart.

Unique Rings, Sunshine Coast

Unique Rings, Sunshine Coast

Hi, I'm Laura, Co-owner of Morgan & Co Jewellery, Buderim. It's a Friday night and I am sitting on the couch thinking about some of the most unique and innovative engagement ring designs I have come across over the last month. Whether you're looking for something unique or are just interested in the creative, these ring ideas may inspire your choice for your own engagement ring.

Here at Morgan & Co we are fortunate to be a part of many unique engagement designs. Last month we had a client that was excited to create for his girlfriend a special engagement ring that is inspired by nature and it's these rings that we love creating more than anything!

Nature Inspired Engagement Rings

Nature inspired rings are becoming increasingly popular. We have had many clients build their own ring who are drawn to nature.  Creating a ring that  incorporates elements such as floral motifs or vine designs really speaks volumes. Imagine a ring with delicate petals or a band that looks like intertwined leaves, or a band that is wave-like, a node to the sea.

The Laurel Ring was created to reflect a flower, with it's soft rose gold petals. The ruby centre stone is the real hero of this engagement ring.

The Theresa Ring is another favourite of ours. Our client came to us and expressed how his fiancé is drawn to forestry colours and loves the green colours in nature. We helped him choose a stunning natural parti sapphire to feature in his partner's ring, reflecting the forest, greenery and trees that she so loves about her home on the Sunshine Coast.

Vintage & Antique Style Engagement Rings

I love the romance of something timeless, a nod to vintage and Art Deco designs. I have had the pleasure to help one of our clients design a beautiful engagement ring that incorporated elements of the Victoria era. With intricate details and coloured gems as the centrepieces. The end results, an exquisite a tiny piece of history in the form of a ring.

Modern & Minimalist Engagement Rings

I adore geometric shapes, think hexagon, squares and eye shapes. East to west settings, where the stone is set horizontally is a very modern twist on both elegance and uniqueness. Some of my favourite pieces that encompass the modern and minimalist brief are The Roberta Ring, The Nina Ring and The Emma Ring.

Personalise Your Engagement Ring

Nothing says unique like an addition to your engagement ring that is special only to you. At Morgan & Co we love to incorporate birthstones, either for the couple or to honour a family member. Engraving a hidden message or a significant date inside the band makes it even more special. We offer complementary engraving to all of our custom pieces. Unique Setting

Choosing your forever stone for your engagement ring is a process that is not taken lightly at Morgan & Co. Once you have decided on the stone that suits your finger, the next step is the setting. We take as much time as needed to get the setting perfect, settings can dramatically change the look of a ring on your finger. I have found that our modern brides are leaning more towards unique settings. A new trend is emerging, the tension settings. This is a setting that we will see a lot more leading into 2025.  The setting allows the  stone to appear to float between the  band. Another popular setting that has made  a resurgence in the Bezel set engagement ring. This statement setting has  become 2024’s top must have. With Morgan Co’s premium gold the bezel  metal surrounding the stone, offer a sleek, modern aesthetic.

Coloured Gemstones

While diamonds are classic, at Morgan & Co, Sunshine Coast we have seen our clients wanting an alternative gemstone. We have access to an array of precious gemstones and only buy the highest grade stones for our clients. We are honoured to be able to source the best of Australian Sapphires. These precious stones come in many different colours, from green, blue, yellow to anything in between.

I hope these ideas inspire you as much as they inspire me. Whether you're on the hunt for the perfect engagement ring or just love beautiful jewellery, Morgan & Co Sunshine Coast is here for you. We look forward to seeing you soon!

With Love,
Laura x

How Do I Choose My Engagement Ring or Wedding Band Profile?

How Do I Choose My Engagement Ring or Wedding Band Profile?

Choosing Your Wedding Band and Engagement Band Profile

Hello, I'm Morgan from Morgan & Co Jewellery in Buderim. One of the most exciting aspects of designing your wedding and engagement rings is selecting the perfect band profile. Each profile has its own unique characteristics, and the right choice can beautifully complement your gemstone and personal style. Today, I’d like to guide you through the various band profiles we offer, including Knife's Edge, Half Round Band, Flat Profile, Contour, and High Dome Profile, and help you find the perfect match for your dream ring.

Knife's Edge Profile

The Knife's Edge profile is a striking and distinctive choice. It features a central ridge that runs along the top of the band, creating a sharp, angular look. This profile is perfect for those who want a bold and modern aesthetic. It pairs well with various gemstone shapes, but it particularly enhances round and oval cuts by providing a dynamic contrast. While it’s a unique and eye-catching option, some may find it less comfortable due to its sharper edges.

Half Round Band

The Half Round band is the most popular choice for wedding and engagement rings, and for good reason. This profile has a slightly domed exterior with a flat interior, offering a classic and timeless look. Its gentle curvature provides a comfortable fit, making it ideal for everyday wear. The versatility of the Half Round band means it complements almost any gemstone shape, especially ovals and round cuts. Its understated elegance makes it a favourite among many brides and grooms and is our most common band for custom designed engagement rings at Morgan & Co.

Flat Profile

A Flat Profile band features a sleek, modern design with a flat surface and straight edges. This profile is perfect for those who prefer a minimalist and contemporary look. It pairs beautifully with more square gemstones such as Radiant Cut, Emerald Cut, or Princess Cut diamonds. The clean lines of the Flat Profile create a cohesive and streamlined appearance, enhancing the geometric beauty of these gemstone shapes. Additionally, its flat surface allows for easier stacking with other bands.

Bellini Profile

The Bellini profile offers a more pronounced curvature than the Half Round band. It features a rounded exterior that provides a substantial and luxurious feel. This profile is ideal for those who want a ring with a classic yet bold presence. The Bellini band pairs wonderfully with oval or east-to-west oval settings, enhancing their elegant and elongated shapes. Its rounded surface also provides a comfortable fit, making it suitable for everyday wear.

Matching Profiles with Gemstones

When choosing your band profile, it’s essential to consider how it complements your gemstone. For example, a Flat Profile band goes exceptionally well with square gemstones like Radiant Cut, Emerald Cut, or Princess Cut diamonds. The clean lines of the band accentuate the geometric precision of these cuts.

On the other hand, a Half Round or High Dome band is perfect for oval or east-to-west oval settings. The gentle curves of these profiles enhance the soft, elongated shape of the oval gemstone, creating a harmonious and balanced look.

Why Half Round Bands are Popular

Half Round bands are the most popular choice because of their timeless appeal and versatility. They offer a classic look that never goes out of style and can complement any gemstone shape. Additionally, their slight curvature provides a comfortable fit, making them ideal for everyday wear. The Half Round band’s understated elegance and versatility make it a beloved choice for many couples.

Final Thoughts

At Morgan & Co, we are committed to helping you find the perfect wedding and engagement bands that reflect your unique style and love story. Whether you prefer the modern look of a Knife's Edge profile, the timeless elegance of a Half Round band, or the sleek lines of a Flat Profile, we have something for everyone.

Wedding Gift Ideas for the Sunshine Coast Bride

Wedding Gift Ideas for the Sunshine Coast Bride

Hi! I'm Morgan from Morgan & Co Jewellery in Buderim. As someone who frequently works with brides to create their perfect engagement rings, I often get asked for gift ideas to celebrate their special day. Today, I want to share some thoughtful and luxurious wedding gift ideas that are perfect for the Sunshine Coast bride.

Luxury Bed Linen —

One of my top recommendations for a wedding gift is luxury bed linen, specifically these French linen sheets from RAW Sunshine Coast. We spend a third of our lives asleep, so it’s essential to get it right. The thing about luxury bedding is that it tends to be on the pricier side, and you might not realise how much it can elevate your life until you actually experience it — which makes it the perfect gift.

We absolutely love these linen sheets in Clay, made from 100% Flax linen. Linen has fantastic cooling properties, making it ideal for the warmer months, ensuring that the newly-weds can start their new life together in restful comfort. These sheets not only provide a touch of luxury but also promise durability and timeless elegance, enhancing any bedroom decor.

Gourmet Cooking Classes —

For couples who love to cook, gourmet cooking classes can be an exciting and fun gift. There are several culinary schools on the Sunshine Coast that offer classes focusing on everything from fine dining techniques to farm-to-table cooking. For an enjoyable date day for the newly weds, a cooking experience at The Spirit House is the perfect place to start when searching for a wedding gift. This gift not only provides a delightful experience but also equips the couple with new skills they can enjoy together.

The Gift of Light —

Gifting a show-stopping item for the home is sometimes overlooked, but beautiful objects can bring boundless joy to a space – with extra points if they provide a practical use. This beautiful Table Lamp sourced by Magnolia Lane is a perfect choice. The Florence Table Lamp gives beautiful shape and elegance to your home. With a natural hue and feature tapered shade and base, it's the perfect accent addition that seamlessly blends into any space.

Marble Vase —

Help to redefine the newly wed's interior with a piece of art that will go with any interior design. A piece that will be a reminder of their wedding day as they move homes throughout their life together. We love the Lilou Marble Vase. Immerse yourself in the harmonious blend of art and functionality with this stunning Vase sourced by Bedouin Traders, Perigian Beach. Whether displayed on its own as a standalone art object or used as a vase for dried florals, it becomes the focal point of admiration. Crafted from the finest grey levanto marble with captivating veining, this piece will be adored now and for years to come.

Choosing the perfect wedding gift is all about considering what will bring joy and comfort to the newlyweds as they embark on their new journey together. Whether it's luxurious bed linen, handcrafted home decor, gourmet cooking classes or a stunning table lamp, these thoughtful gifts are sure to be appreciated and cherished.

At Morgan & Co, we love helping our clients find the perfect gifts for their loved ones. If you have any questions or need more recommendations, feel free to reach out to us. We’re always here to help you make your special occasions even more memorable.

With love —
Morgan x
