What Are Ethically Sourced Diamonds?
What Are Ethically Sourced Diamonds and Should I Choose a Natural or Lab-Grown Diamond for My Engagement Ring?
Hello, I'm Morgan, co-owner of Morgan & Co Jewellery on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Today, I'd like to share some insights about ethically sourced diamonds and help you decide whether a natural or lab-grown diamond is the right choice for your engagement ring.
What Are Ethically Sourced Diamonds?
Ethically sourced diamonds are diamonds that are mined or created with a focus on ethical practices, ensuring they do not contribute to environmental harm, human rights abuses, or funding of conflicts. These diamonds are traced from their origin to ensure they comply with strict labor, trade, and environmental standards. Compared to traditional natural diamonds, which can sometimes come from conflict zones and have a higher environmental impact, ethically sourced diamonds offer a more responsible and sustainable option.
Natural Diamonds vs. Lab-Grown Diamonds
Natural Diamonds —
Natural diamonds are formed deep within the Earth's mantle over billions of years. Their unique geological journey makes each one truly one-of-a-kind. Natural diamonds often come with a premium price tag due to their rarity, the extensive mining process, and the higher costs associated with ethical sourcing.
Lab-Grown Diamonds —
Lab-grown diamonds, otherwise known as cultured cured diamonds, on the other hand, are created in controlled laboratory environments using advanced technology that replicates the natural diamond formation process. These diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to natural diamonds but come at a fraction of the price. The lower cost is due to the shorter production time and more efficient manufacturing process. You can not tell the difference between a lab grown and natural diamond, not even a trained gemologist can determine the difference. It takes thousand of dollars worth of machinery to distinguish the difference between the two types of diamonds.

The Value of Lab-Grown and Natural Diamonds
Natural Diamonds —
Natural diamonds have long been seen as a symbol of romance, love and commitment. They often hold more traditional value and are considered by some to be more prestigious due to their natural origin and rarity.
Lab-Grown Diamonds —
Lab-grown diamonds are a fantastic alternative for those who want a stunning, high-quality diamond without the higher price tag. They are often more affordable, allowing you to get a larger or higher quality diamond within your budget. Additionally, they are considered more environmentally friendly, as they don't require mining.
You can achieve between a .80ct brilliant round natural diamond of reasonable quality for approximately $10,000 - $12,000. For the same price, you would get change from a 2ct highest quality lab grown diamond.
Why Is There a Big Price Difference?
The price difference between natural and lab-grown diamonds is primarily due to the production process and market perception. Natural diamonds require extensive mining operations, which are costly and labor-intensive. Lab-grown diamonds are produced more efficiently and quickly, reducing the overall cost. However, both types of diamonds offer beautiful, high-quality options for your engagement ring.

The Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Perfect Diamond Stud Earrings
When it comes to timeless elegance and versatility, few pieces of jewellery can compete with the beauty of diamond stud earrings. Whether worn daily or reserved for special occasions, they are an essential staple in any jewellery collection. At Morgan & Co, we believe that every woman deserves to shine, which is why we offer a stunning range of diamond studs in various shapes, sizes, and settings to suit your style and budget.
Why Diamond Studs Are a Must-Have
Diamond stud earrings are the epitome of sophistication and timeless appeal. Unlike trendy jewellery pieces that may fall out of fashion, a classic pair of diamond studs will always be in style. They effortlessly complement any outfit, from casual everyday wear to formal attire, making them one of the most versatile investments in fine jewellery.
Our Favourite Diamond Shapes for Stud Earrings
The shape of your diamond studs plays a significant role in their overall appearance. Here are my top five favourite diamond shapes for stud earrings:
1. Round Brilliant Cut
My personal favourite, the round brilliant cut, is a timeless classic. With 58 facets designed to maximise light reflection, round diamonds sparkle beautifully, making them the most popular choice for diamond studs. For a sleek and modern look, you may opt for a martini setting, which allows the diamond to sit closer to the ear. If you prefer a more traditional style, a bezel setting adds a refined touch while offering extra security.
2. Oval Cut
Coming in at number two is the oval shape. Oval diamonds offer a unique and elegant twist on the classic round stud. Their elongated shape creates an illusion of greater size and adds a touch of sophistication to any look. Oval studs are perfect for those who love a distinctive yet timeless design.
3. Cushion Cut
Cushion cut diamonds have soft, rounded edges that exude romance and charm. With their vintage-inspired appeal, cushion studs bring a sense of old-world glamour while maintaining a modern elegance. Their unique faceting enhances their brilliance, making them a stunning choice for diamond studs.
4. Marquise Cut
For those who love a bit of drama, marquise-cut diamonds are an excellent choice. Their elongated shape is both flattering and eye-catching, giving the illusion of a larger diamond. Marquise studs add a touch of boldness and individuality to your jewellery collection.
5. Radiant Cut
If you love maximum sparkle, radiant cut diamonds are for you. Known for their incredible fire and brilliance, radiant studs combine the best features of the emerald and round cuts, resulting in a dazzling effect. They’re perfect for those who want to make a statement with their diamond studs.
Selecting the Perfect Diamond Size
The size of your diamond studs will determine how subtle or striking they appear. If you prefer a delicate look, smaller carat weights such as 0.25ct or 0.50ct per ear offer a refined sparkle. For a more noticeable presence, 1.00ct or larger per ear creates a bold and luxurious statement. At Morgan & Co, we can help guide you through the ideal size based on your personal style and budget.
Choosing the Right Setting
The setting of your diamond studs is crucial in determining their overall look and security.
-
Bezel Setting: A bezel setting encases the diamond with a thin metal rim, providing a sleek and modern look while offering maximum protection for the stone.
-
Martini Setting: A martini setting has a conical shape, allowing the diamond to sit flush against the ear for a minimalist and sophisticated appearance.
-
Four-Prong Setting: The classic four-prong setting holds the diamond securely while allowing maximum light to pass through, enhancing its brilliance.
Understanding Earring Backs
The right earring backing ensures your diamond studs remain secure and comfortable. At Morgan & Co, we offer three main types:
-
Push Backs: The most common and easy-to-use option, push backs are great for everyday wear.
-
Screw Backs: These provide extra security by threading onto the post, making them less likely to fall off.
-
Locking Backs: The most secure option, locking backs feature a mechanism that firmly holds the earrings in place, offering peace of mind for valuable diamond studs.
Why Choose Morgan & Co for Your Diamond Studs?
At Morgan & Co, we understand that choosing the perfect diamond stud earrings is a deeply personal decision. That’s why our team is dedicated to guiding you through every step of the process, from selecting the perfect diamond shape to choosing the right setting and backing for your lifestyle. Our bespoke service allows you to customise your studs to match your style and preferences, ensuring that you walk away with a pair that you’ll treasure for a lifetime.

June's Birthstones — Exploring Peals, Alexandrites & Moonstones
We love it when the calendar ticks over to a new month. The 1st of every month heralds in a new birthstone. If you are lucky enough to be born in June you have three stones to choose from: pearl, alexandrite and moonstone.
So what is so special about each of these stones?
Pearl
Appearance — Pearls are organic gemstones formed within mollusks. They are known for their lustrous and smooth surface, which can come in various colours, including white, cream, pink, and black.
Significance — Pearls are associated with purity, wisdom, and loyalty. They have been valued for centuries for their elegance and natural beauty.
Alexandrite
Appearance — Alexandrite is a rare and unique gemstone known for its remarkable colour-changing ability. It appears green in daylight and changes to red or purplish-red under incandescent light.
Significance — Alexandrite symbolises balance, creativity, and good fortune. Its ability to change colour is often seen as a metaphor for adaptability and transformation.
Moonstone
Appearance — Moonstones are characterised by their ethereal, milky sheen known as adularescence, which creates a glowing effect. They can be found in colours like white, grey, blue, and peach.
Significance — Moonstones are linked to intuition, inspiration, and emotional balance. They are believed to have a calming and healing effect.
We are often asked if pearls can be used in the creation of an engagement ring. Pearls can be a beautiful and unique choice however, there are several factors to consider before making a decision to choose a pearl for your forever ring.
Pros of Pearl Engagement Rings
Elegance and Uniqueness: Pearls offer a classic, timeless beauty that can set an engagement ring apart from the more common diamond rings.
Variety — Pearls come in various colours and types, including Akoya, South Sea, Tahitian, and freshwater pearls, providing options for customisation.
Cons of Pearl Engagement Rings
Durability — Pearls are relatively soft compared to other gemstones, ranking about 2.5-4.5 on the Mohs hardness scale. They can be easily scratched, chipped, or damaged with daily wear, which is a significant consideration for an engagement ring intended for everyday use.
Maintenance — Pearls require more care to maintain their lustre. They are sensitive to chemicals, including those found in everyday products like lotions, perfumes, and household cleaners.
Setting Protection — To protect a pearl in an engagement ring, the setting must be designed to offer additional protection, such as a bezel setting or protective prongs, which can affect the overall design.
If you are still keen to have pearl in your engagement ring here are some tips to consider
Type of Setting: Choose a setting that offers protection to the pearl, such as a bezel or halo setting.
Combining with Other Gemstones —Consider a design that incorporates pearls with other gemstones, such as diamonds, for added durability and sparkle.
Regular Maintenance — Be prepared for regular maintenance and gentle cleaning to keep the pearl looking its best.
Quality of the Pearl — Look for high-quality pearls with good lustre, smooth surface, and minimal blemishes.
Alexandrite & Moonstones
Alexandrite and moonstones are two of the most enchanting gemstones that can add a touch of magic to any jewellery collection. Alexandrite, renowned for its mesmerising colour-changing properties, shifts from green in daylight to red under incandescent light, making it a dynamic and intriguing choice for jewellery. Moonstones, with their ethereal adularescence that casts a soft glow reminiscent of moonlight, offer a serene and mystical allure. At Morgan & Co on the Sunshine Coast, we love crafting unique jewellery pieces with these captivating gems. Imagine a stunning alexandrite pendant or dress ring that dazzles with different hues depending on the light, or a delicate moonstone pendant that shimmers softly against the skin. From elegant earrings to bespoke necklaces and timeless bracelets, the possibilities are endless. These gemstones are perfect for creating one-of-a-kind pieces that are as unique as the wearer, each telling its own story through the play of light and colour.
It is very rare that alexandrite or moonstones are requested to be set into an engagement ring; however, either stones can be placed within the engagement ring band as a special hidden stone. We do not use pearls as hidden stones due to the explanation above.
Conclusion
While pearls can make a stunning and unique choice for an engagement ring, they do require careful consideration due to their softness and need for extra care. If you or your partner loves the look of pearls and is willing to take the necessary precautions to protect them, a pearl engagement ring can be a beautiful and meaningful option. However, if durability and low maintenance are top priorities, you might want to consider other gemstones.
Happy Birthday to all our June babies out there and please get in touch for a studio consultation at our Buderim jewellery shop!

Sky & Jack's Love Story
We recently had the pleasure of assisting beautiful couple, Sky & Jack with creating their new forever engagement ring.
Read on for an exclusive interview, which details their special proposal journey and experience with our Morgan & Co Bespoke Team.
Was there anything in particular that drew you to work with us?
"I first came across your Instagram page a couple of years ago. Aside from thinking your jewellery was beautiful, I loved that Morgan & Co is a small, independent, female-led business. It was evident you both really care and want the whole experience of choosing a ring to be personal. The fact you source diamonds ethically was also really important."
Which ring did you choose/design for your forever piece, and why?
"We initially came into the studio together and met with Morgan and Laura, and I tried on lots of different rings to get an idea of what I liked.
When I put the marquise ring on, I unexpectedly got really emotional and we all knew then, it was the one! Then Jack worked with you to design the final ring - a custom made 14ct white gold engagement ring featuring a 1.08ct natural marquise." — View The Sky Ring.
What was your favourite part of your Morgan & Co experience?
"Spending hours in the studio chatting with Morgan and Laura about everything during the initial consultation. They felt like family friends that we had known forever! We came away with so much knowledge and it was great to feel so involved in the process."
Tell us a little bit about your proposal.
"Jack proposed during a stopover in Zürich. We were in the Old Town by the river, with views out to the Swiss Alps - it was beautiful. We were then able to celebrate with all our friends and family back home in England afterwards which was really special."
Sky's 5 Star Review
" Every step of the process was personal and seamless. Morgan and Laura are so passionate, patient, and knowledgeable, and they really took the time to get to know us and what we were looking for when choosing an engagement ring. A totally different experience to any other jeweller we visited. Would highly recommend!"
My Top 5 Favourite Diamond Shapes
As an engagement ring designer at Morgan & Co on the Sunshine Coast, I have the privilege of working with a variety of diamond shapes, each with its own unique appeal. Here are my personal top 5 favourite diamond shapes, ranked from 1 to 5, along with the reasons why I love them —
- Round —
Although it might sound boring, the brilliant round diamond is a timeless classic and takes the top spot for its appeal and unparalleled brilliance. Its symmetrical shape maximises light reflection, creating a stunning sparkle that never goes out of style. I feel that a brilliant round diamond suits you i your 20's and takes you through your life, without ever going out of fashion or losing it's elegance. The ability to stack your brilliant round diamond with any wedding band is an added bonus. Almost any wedding band will perfectly match with your round diamond. -
Oval —
Oval diamonds are a personal favourite due to their elegant elongated shape, which flatters the finger and creates a graceful look. They offer a modern twist on the classic round diamond, with a unique and eye-catching appearance. Oval diamonds can help elongate the finger which is an added bonus! -
Cushion —
Cushion-cut diamonds combine the brilliance of round diamonds with a unique square or rectangular shape. I love the vintage charm of cushion-cut diamonds, which exude warmth and sophistication. My favourite way to set a cushion cut is in our unique four claw design as seen in our Evelyn Ring. -
Marquise —
The marquise diamond's elongated shape and pointed ends give it a regal and elegant appearance. I appreciate the drama and flair that a marquise diamond brings to any jewellery piece. I adore the shape of a marquise diamond and I feel they suit most people's hands, although they don't suit everyone's personality. I feel that someone with a little bit of "edge" can pull off a marquise diamond. I also love that you can set a marquise solitaire so many different ways; two claws, shoulders, six claws or five. So versatile and always a unique choice. -
Radiant —
Last but not least, radiant-cut diamonds are a stunning choice for those who love the brilliance of round diamonds but prefer a square or rectangular shape. The radiant cut combines the best of both worlds, with exceptional sparkle and a modern silhouette. My favourite combination with a radiant cut solitaire is the two toned option of a yellow gold band with white gold setting, like our Tara Ring.
Each of these diamond shapes has its own unique charm and beauty, making them all favourites in my collection. Whether you prefer the timeless elegance of a round diamond or the modern sophistication of an oval or cushion cut, there's a diamond shape to suit every style and preference.

The Oval Diamond Bowtie Effect — What Is It & How Do I Avoid It?
An oval diamond bow tie refers to a pair of black triangles visible across the middle of the diamond. To ensure your oval diamond doesn’t display this characteristic of a poorly cut stone, there are a few considerations to keep in mind.
Oval diamonds are captivating gems but come with their own set of unique qualities. Before delving into the specifics of how a bow tie forms in an oval diamond, let’s take a moment to appreciate the oval cut itself. Ovals are currently in the spotlight, experiencing a surge in popularity unlike any other cut. Currently they stand as one of the top choices for engagement rings, and rightfully so. Their elongated shape offers a refreshing departure from the traditional round brilliant. Ovals create the illusion of elongated fingers and impart an additional touch of sophistication to a classic solitaire setting. Additionally, ovals tend to appear larger than round diamonds of the same carat weight due to their spread-out, shallower profile. Furthermore, they often come at a slightly lower cost per carat compared to rounds, allowing for a larger appearance within a given budget. With so many appealing attributes, it’s no surprise they have garnered such widespread acclaim.
Unfortunately, choosing an oval diamond presents more challenges than selecting a round brilliant diamond. The complexity arises from what's referred to as the "oval diamond bow tie" effect. However, if you're willing to invest additional time, patience, and effort, the oval cut might be the ideal choice for you. There are numerous pitfalls when it comes to choosing the right oval diamond, with the most common mistake being the bow tie effect. So, what exactly is this effect? Why is it undesirable? And how can you ensure that your oval diamond is free from it? Do all oval diamonds exhibit this feature? Read on and we will answer all of these questions for you in our detailed blog covering all things oval diamonds and bowties!

Why are Emeralds so highly sought after?
Emeralds are highly sought after for several reasons —
Rareness — High-quality emeralds are relatively rare compared to other gemstones, making them inherently valuable.
Colour — Emeralds are prized for their unique green colour, which ranges from a vibrant grass-green to a deep forest green. This vivid colour is highly desirable and adds to the gemstone's allure.
Beauty — Emeralds have a captivating beauty that has been admired for centuries. Their rich green colour can evoke feelings of luxury and sophistication.
Durability — While emeralds are not as hard as diamonds, they are still relatively durable and suitable for everyday wear when set properly in jewellery.
What is the symbolism behind the Emerald?
Emeralds have been associated with various symbolic meanings throughout history and across different cultures. Some of the key symbolism behind emerald stones includes:
Love and Relationships —
Emeralds are often seen as symbols of love and fidelity. They are believed to strengthen bonds between partners and promote harmony and mutual understanding in relationships.
Rebirth and Renewal —
The lush green colour of emeralds is reminiscent of nature and the renewal of life. Emeralds are sometimes associated with themes of rebirth, growth, and rejuvenation.

In some cultures, emeralds are considered symbols of wisdom and intelligence. They are believed to enhance mental clarity, intuition, and insight, making them popular among scholars and seekers of knowledge.
Prosperity and Abundance —

Protection and Healing —
Emeralds have been used in various cultures as talismans for protection and healing. They are believed to ward off negative energy, promote physical and emotional healing, and provide a sense of security.
Overall, the symbolism behind emerald stones encompasses themes of love, renewal, wisdom, prosperity, protection, and spiritual growth, making them cherished gemstones with profound meaning for many people.
What Is the Historical Significance Emerald?
Throughout history, emeralds have been treasured by royalty, nobility, and prominent figures. Their association with wealth and power adds to their allure and mystique.
The historical significance of emerald stones spans millennia and cultures, with various civilisations attributing significant value and symbolism to these gemstones:
Ancient Egypt — Emeralds were highly prized by ancient Egyptians, who associated them with fertility, rebirth, and eternal youth. They were often buried with mummies as symbols of protection and regeneration. Cleopatra, the last pharaoh of Egypt, was known to have a great affinity for emeralds and adorned herself with them.
Ancient Rome — Romans revered emeralds for their beauty and believed they symbolised Venus, the goddess of love and beauty. Emeralds were considered symbols of fertility, love, and abundance. Roman aristocrats and emperors adorned themselves with emerald jewellery as a display of wealth and status.

Islamic rulers adorned themselves and their artefacts with emeralds as symbols of wealth, power, and divine favour.
Overall, the combination of rarity, beauty, symbolism, and historical significance makes emeralds highly sought after in the world of gemstones and jewellery.
Are Emeralds hard enough to be used in an Engagement ring?
Emeralds are considered relatively softer compared to some other popular gemstones used in engagement rings, such as diamonds, sapphires, and rubies. On the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, which ranks gemstones from 1 (softest) to 10 (hardest), emeralds typically rank around 7.5 to 8.
While emeralds are not as hard as diamonds, which are the hardest gemstone ranking at 10 on the Mohs scale, they can still make durable and beautiful engagement rings if cared for properly. However, their relative softness means they may be more susceptible to scratching and chipping, especially if subjected to rough wear or impact.
To mitigate the risk of damage, emerald engagement rings should be set in protective settings that minimise the exposure of the stone to potential harm. Bezel settings or settings with protective prongs can help shield the emerald from impact and abrasion. Additionally, regular maintenance and care, such as periodic cleaning and inspections by a jeweller, are important to ensure the longevity of the ring.
Ultimately, whether emeralds are suitable for an engagement ring depends on personal preference, lifestyle, and willingness to take precautions to care for the stone. While emeralds may require a bit more attention and care compared to harder gemstones like diamonds, their unique beauty and symbolism can make them a meaningful and cherished choice for an engagement ring for those who appreciate their allure.
What setting can I choose to set my emerald stone?
When choosing an engagement ring design for an emerald stone, it's essential to consider both the aesthetic appeal and the practicality of the setting to protect the gemstone. Here are some engagement ring designs that are well-suited for emerald stones —
Bezel Setting — A bezel setting surrounds the entire circumference of the emerald with a metal rim, providing excellent protection against chips and scratches. This setting also offers a sleek and modern look.
Halo Setting — A halo setting features a circle of smaller diamonds or gemstones surrounding the centre emerald, enhancing its brilliance and adding extra sparkle. This design not only highlights the emerald but also provides some protection to its edges.
Three-Stone Setting — A three-stone setting incorporates two smaller diamonds or gemstones flanking the centre emerald, symbolising the past, present, and future of the relationship. This classic design allows the emerald to be the focal point while adding elegance and balance to the ring.
Cluster Setting — A cluster setting consists of multiple smaller emeralds or diamonds arranged closely together to create the illusion of a larger stone. This design can be eye-catching and offers some protection to the individual stones within the cluster.
Tension Setting — A tension setting uses the tension of the metal band to hold the emerald in place securely without the need for prongs or a bezel. This minimalist design showcases the beauty of the emerald while providing a modern and sleek look.
Vintage or Antique Setting — Vintage or antique engagement ring settings often feature intricate details, such as filigree or milgrain patterns, which complement the timeless beauty of emeralds. These settings can add a touch of romance and nostalgia to the ring.
When selecting an engagement ring design for an emerald stone, it's crucial to work with a reputable jeweller, like the girls from Morgan & Co. We specialise in gemstone settings and can help guide you through the process and ensure that the chosen design not only showcases the beauty of the emerald but also provides adequate protection for long-term wear.

Why Should I Buy a Certified Diamond?
When it comes to choosing a diamond for your engagement ring or other jewellery, understanding how to read a diamond certificate is crucial. These certificates, issued by gemological laboratories, provide a detailed analysis of a diamond's characteristics and are essential for assessing its quality and value.
Purchasing a certified diamond is important to guaranteeing its authenticity and quality. Certified diamonds undergo meticulous examination by independent gemological experts, who evaluate them based on the 4Cs: cut, clarity, colour, and carat weight. These 4Cs serve as the fundamental details that consumers should understand when buying a diamond. However, there are numerous additional factors beyond the 4Cs that experts like us consider when assessing a diamond's quality. We believe it's crucial for you to grasp the 4Cs to make an informed decision about your purchase. Since a diamond engagement ring or piece of jewellery is a significant investment, understanding these factors ensures you know precisely what you're getting. Reputable jewellers, such as our team at Morgan & Co, delve deeper into diamond assessment beyond the basic 4Cs. This comprehensive evaluation guarantees you acquire a diamond with exceptional quality and exquisite lustre. The diamond certification accompanying your stone provides assurance that the diamond meets the standards specified in the certificate, further enhancing your confidence in your purchase.
Example of an IGI Certified Diamond —
This section of the certificate outline's your diamond's dimensions, the carat weight, and polish, symmetry and fluorescence. At Morgan & Co, we buy triple excellent diamonds and ensure there is never any fluorescence.
Colour Grading Scale —
At Morgan & Co, we only provide D — G diamonds on the colour scale. Anything less than a G will be yellow to the naked eye and comprised.
Several reputable gemological laboratories certify diamonds, with the two most prominent being the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the International Gemological Institute (IGI). The GIA is widely regarded as the industry leader and is known for its strict grading standards and consistency. The IGI is also a respected laboratory, providing reliable diamond grading reports.
Keep in mind that becoming proficient in diamond selection and understanding takes years of experience and expertise in the field. While having a basic understanding is helpful before making your diamond purchase, it's still crucial to consult with an expert. There are numerous aspects beyond the 4Cs that our team at Morgan & Co is well-versed in. We strongly advise against purchasing a diamond online based solely on information found on the internet. Unlike other items, you cannot return a diamond purchased online for a refund if it doesn't meet your expectations. Therefore, it's wise to consult with a reputable jeweller before finalising your diamond purchase.
At Morgan & Co, we only buy certified diamonds, both lab-grown and natural. We believe in transparency and educating our clients about the diamonds they are purchasing. Our team is committed to guiding you through the process, ensuring you make an informed decision that suits your preferences and budget. If you're interested in learning more about diamond certificates or exploring our collection of certified diamonds, book a consultation with us today.

I knew very little about diamonds or rings and both Morgan and Laura were so friendly and helpful with helping me understand how to create a beautiful ring for my fiancé. They easily accommodated my desired price point to produce a ring that my fiancé absolutely adores. I definitely recommend going to visit Morgan & Co!”
I Can't Find a Wedding Band that Fits with my Engagement Ring
As a co-owner of a jewellery studio in Buderim, Sunshine Coast, I often see clients facing issues with off-the-shelf engagement rings purchased from online or chain stores. One common problem is the setting being so low that it's impossible to fit a wedding band flush with the engagement ring. This leaves clients with two options: either remodel their engagement ring, which can be costly, or settle for a curved wedding ring, compromising on style.
Are you having trouble finding a wedding band that fits flush with your engagement ring?
The challenges often encountered with engagement rings from chain or online stores are the low settings, which make it difficult to find a wedding band that sits flush, leaving a gap between your engagement ring and wedding ring, which aesthetically doesn't look nice. This issue leaves clients with two choices: either they must have their engagement ring remodelled, a costly process that can reach up to $3,000, or they must settle for a curved wedding band, often not the desired style.
If you're struggling to find a wedding band that fits flush and would like to discuss your options, simply schedule a consultation with our team. We offer free advice and guidance to help you find the perfect solution.
We often see clients who have purchased engagement rings from chain stores or online retailers come to us for remodelling. It's common for these rings to have been priced lower for a reason. While our engagement rings may have a slightly higher price point, you'll receive professional drawings, a lifelong service, lifetime warranty, a custom-designed ring tailored to you and your lifestyle, and the assurance that there will always be room for your wedding band in the future.
Flimsy bands
Another common problem is that engagement ring bands from these stores (online and retail) are too thin, making them prone to bending and feeling flimsy. These rings are designed this way to save on gold costs, but clients end up paying the same amount for a ring that requires frequent repairs and compromises its integrity over time.
Our process
At our jewellery studio, Sunshine Coast, we design engagement rings with longevity in mind. Each ring is custom-made with specific measurements for the gemstones, ensuring durability. We also leave enough room under the setting for a wedding band to fit flush in the future. This attention to detail ensures that our clients' engagement rings will last a lifetime, without the need for costly repairs or compromises in style.
