Proposal Planning Checklist: 7 Steps to Popping the Question Perfectly
Planning the perfect proposal is a momentous task, but with a thoughtful approach, it can be as enjoyable as it is meaningful. From choosing the ideal ring to setting the scene and celebrating afterward, here’s a step-by-step guide to ensure everything goes smoothly on this unforgettable day.
Step 1: Decide on Your Budget
The proposal itself can be as simple or elaborate as you like, but setting a budget early on helps you plan without financial stress. From the cost of the ring to any added expenses for the proposal setting, photographer, or celebration, start with a clear sense of what you’re comfortable spending.
Step 2: Find the Perfect Ring
Choosing the right ring is one of the most significant steps. Here’s how to make the process easier:
Do Your Research — Take note of her style and preferences. Does she lean toward classic, vintage, or modern styles? Is she drawn to a particular gemstone or metal?
Consult Experts — Working with a knowledgeable jeweller will guide you through the "Four Cs" (cut, colour, clarity, and carat) and help you select a ring that aligns with her taste and your budget.
Consider Custom — If you’re looking to add a unique touch, consider a custom design. A custom ring reflects your shared story and can incorporate personal details she’ll love.
Step 3: Select the Proposal Setting
The setting is vital to creating a memorable atmosphere. Think about places that hold meaning for both of you or destinations she’s always dreamed of visiting.
Sentimental Spots — Propose at the place where you first met or had a special date, or somewhere tied to meaningful memories.
Dream Destination — If you’re planning a destination proposal, consider the logistics of travel, accommodations, and any necessary permissions.
Private vs. Public — Decide whether you want an intimate moment or something grander. A private setting can make it deeply personal, while a public one adds an element of surprise and excitement.
Step 4: Arrange for Documentation (Photos and Video)
Capturing the moment allows you both to relive the memory and share it with loved ones. Here’s how to do it seamlessly:
Hire a Photographer — An experienced photographer can capture the emotions of the moment without being intrusive. Discuss timing and angles beforehand to ensure the best shots.
Go Incognito — For a more spontaneous feel, arrange for the photographer to be nearby and capture the proposal discreetly.
Consider a Videographer —If she values video memories, hiring a videographer can bring an additional layer of storytelling to the proposal.
Step 5: Rehearse Your Words
Although it may feel like you’ll know what to say in the moment, rehearsing can help you feel more relaxed and convey exactly how you feel.
Personalise Your Message — Think about the qualities that make her special to you, moments that define your relationship, and what this proposal means to you both.
Keep It Natural — Avoid memorising a script—speak from the heart and allow the words to flow naturally.
Step 6 — Plan the Celebration
Whether you prefer an intimate dinner or a gathering with friends and family, a post-proposal celebration can make the day even more memorable.
Private Dinner — Consider reserving a table at a favourite restaurant or organising a cozy dinner at home with her favourite meal and wine.
Surprise Gathering — For a more lively celebration, invite close family and friends to a surprise party. This lets your loved ones share in the joy without disrupting the intimacy of the proposal itself.
Celebrate Alone Together — If you want to keep it personal, plan a mini getaway to savour the moment, just the two of you.
Step 7: Plan for After the Proposal
Planning for the aftermath of a successful proposal helps ensure the magic continues:
Share the News Thoughtfully — Decide how you want to tell family and friends. Some couples make a call immediately after; others wait for a later announcement.
Capture the Sparkle — Schedule a photoshoot to celebrate your engagement. This can also serve as the beginning of your wedding journey and a way to capture this special period in your lives.
Final Checklist for the Big Day
Here’s a quick rundown of final details to remember:
- Double-check the ring—ensure it’s safe, clean, and ready for the big moment.
- Confirm with your photographer or videographer, and check that all timing and locations are clear.
- Do a quick rehearsal or review your words, but allow yourself to be spontaneous.
- Arrive at the proposal location early to make sure everything is set up as planned.
Wrapping Up
Popping the question is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and every detail counts. By following this step-by-step checklist, you’ll not only be prepared but also able to enjoy the moment fully. Remember, this is about celebrating your unique story together, so let the day reflect who you both are as a couple.

Wedding Ring Trends 2025: The New Era of Elegance
As we look ahead to wedding trends in 2025, wedding rings are emerging as more than simple symbols; they are refined works of art that capture elegance, craftsmanship, and personal style. This year's trends reflect a sophisticated approach, blending timeless details with modern flourishes that speak to individuality and artistry. For those planning a wedding or simply looking to be inspired by exquisite design, here’s a guide to 2025’s most stunning wedding ring trends.
Timeless Minimalism Reimagined
Minimalism takes centre stage in 2025, yet in a way that feels fresh and captivating. The year’s standout minimalist rings are crafted with delicately sculpted profiles, gentle curves, and intriguing textures. Slim bands and clean lines lend a timeless appeal, while subtle twists, like asymmetric stone placements, add sophistication without overshadowing simplicity. Minimalist settings featuring a single diamond or a delicate arrangement create a refined elegance perfect for those who seek beauty in restraint.
East-West Settings: A Contemporary Classic
East-west settings bring a unique spin to traditional rings by orienting stones horizontally across the finger. Marquise, emerald, and oval cuts work beautifully in this modern setting, resulting in a graceful yet striking design. The east-west style captures both timeless appeal and fresh originality, creating a sophisticated look for brides and grooms who want something classic with a contemporary twist.
The Harmony of Mixed Metals
Blending metals—think yellow, rose, or white gold paired with platinum—is gaining popularity in 2025 for its depth and versatility. Mixed metal bands allow couples to combine tones that complement each other and create a harmonious piece that bridges tradition and modernity. This choice adds a subtle contrast that elevates the ring's elegance, perfect for those who want a versatile ring that pairs well with other jewellery.
Vintage-Inspired Details for a Touch of Romance
Vintage elegance returns with intricate filigree, milgrain edges, and art deco-inspired patterns. These rings offer a nod to bygone eras while maintaining a modern allure. Designed for those who appreciate romance and craftsmanship, vintage-inspired rings provide a sense of timeless beauty. With detailed settings and ornate craftsmanship, these rings feel like a blend of past and present—perfect for couples who cherish both heritage and elegance.
Sculptural and Organic Forms
Sculptural rings with organic shapes are increasingly popular in 2025, echoing the forms of nature. Inspired by leaves, vines, and fluid waves, these rings are for those who want an artful design that feels effortlessly elegant. Textured finishes, brushed metals, and freeform shapes enhance the organic aesthetic, making each piece a unique expression of the wearer’s style. These sculptural designs offer refined individuality, appealing to couples who seek beauty in natural elegance.
Hidden Diamond Details: Subtle Luxury
For those who love an extra touch of luxury, hidden diamond details are an emerging trend that provides a more intimate sense of opulence. Tiny diamonds, often placed along the inner edge of the band, under the main setting, or as small accents, offer a discreet yet stunning touch. These hidden gems add a personal layer of beauty, perfect for couples who appreciate a refined elegance that’s as meaningful as it is beautiful.
A New Era of Elegance in Wedding Rings
Wedding ring trends for 2025 reflect a sophisticated evolution that celebrates individuality, craftsmanship, and understated luxury. Whether you’re drawn to minimalist designs, inspired by vintage elements, or enchanted by sculptural details, there’s a trend that captures the essence of your style. As you explore this year’s wedding ring styles, remember that each piece is a reflection of your unique journey—a timeless symbol of love, crafted to endure.
If you're considering your wedding ring options, these trends offer inspiration to find a design that feels not only beautiful but truly personal.

Top 7 Engagement Ring Myths Busted: What You Need to Know Before You Buy
Buying an engagement ring is a once-in-a-lifetime purchase, filled with excitement—and often, a bit of uncertainty. With so many options and a vast world of diamonds to navigate, it's easy to encounter information that may not entirely be accurate. Here, we’ll break down some of the most common engagement ring myths to guide you toward making a well-informed decision.
Myth #1: Bigger is Always Better
One of the most persistent myths surrounding engagement rings is that the size of the diamond equates to the value of the ring and the depth of your love. However, the significance of a ring comes down to its quality, craftsmanship, and the sentiment it represents — not just carat weight.
While carat size is a factor, the cut, clarity, and colour of the diamond greatly influence its beauty. For instance, a well-cut smaller diamond can often look more brilliant than a larger diamond with a lower cut grade. Consider what will truly suit her taste and lifestyle over simply going for the biggest stone. Quality and elegance often make a more lasting impression.
Myth #2: Diamonds are the Only Option
Diamonds have been the traditional choice for engagement rings for over a century, but they’re certainly not the only option. Sapphires, emeralds, and even alternative stones like morganite and aquamarine have gained popularity for their unique beauty and symbolism. Each gemstone carries its own personality and charm, offering a distinctive and personal touch to the ring.
Choosing a gemstone engagement ring can also reflect her individuality and make the piece feel more personal. Don’t hesitate to explore other options if a diamond doesn’t feel like the right fit; ultimately, it’s about finding a stone that resonates with both of you.
Myth #3: The “Three-Months’ Salary” Rule
You may have heard the “rule” that you should spend three months’ salary on an engagement ring. This guideline originated from marketing campaigns decades ago and has since become widely accepted—but it’s not a requirement. A meaningful engagement ring is about what feels right for you and your financial situation, not a set percentage of income.
At Morgan & Co., we believe in helping you find a ring that reflects your love and style, regardless of a formulaic budget. Choose what resonates with your unique story, and remember that a well-thought-out design often holds more meaning than an extravagant price tag.
Myth #4: Clarity is the Most Important Quality
While clarity is one of the “Four Cs” of diamond grading (carat, colour, clarity, cut), it’s often less critical to the overall appearance than people realise. Small inclusions, which are natural imperfections within the stone, are usually invisible to the naked eye and don’t affect the diamond’s sparkle.
More important to consider is the diamond’s cut, which determines how light reflects within the stone and impacts its brilliance. A well-cut diamond maximises light return, creating that signature sparkle. Focusing on cut quality will likely give you more visible impact than striving for a higher clarity grade that might not be noticeable.
Myth #5: Engagement Rings Should Be a Surprise
The tradition of surprising your partner with a ring can be romantic, but it’s not the only approach. Today, more couples are choosing to shop for engagement rings together, ensuring the ring matches her personal style and preferences. Involving her in the process allows you to design a ring that aligns with her tastes, creating a piece she’ll cherish for a lifetime.
If you still want an element of surprise, consider narrowing down a few options with her input, and then adding a final personal touch yourself. This way, you maintain the magic of the moment while ensuring the ring is everything she envisions.
Myth #6: All Diamonds Look the Same
Not all diamonds are created equal. Variations in cut, colour, and even the origin of the diamond can significantly impact its appearance and feel. A round, brilliant-cut diamond exudes a classic elegance, while an oval or pear-cut can add a touch of vintage allure. The colour, whether icy white or warm with hints of yellow, will also shape the ring’s personality.
Choosing a diamond involves understanding the unique qualities of each stone. Working with a jeweller who takes the time to explain these differences will help you select a diamond that genuinely resonates with you and your partner.
Myth #7: Custom Rings Are Complicated and Costly
The thought of designing a custom engagement ring may seem overwhelming, but it’s often simpler and more accessible than you might think. A custom ring allows you to create a piece that embodies your relationship’s unique story. Working with an experienced designer, you can incorporate personal touches, like a meaningful engraving or a design element inspired by shared memories.
Custom rings don’t have to break the bank, either. At Morgan & Co., we work within a range of budgets to design rings that are both beautiful and meaningful. A custom piece offers an opportunity to create a lasting symbol of your love that’s truly one of a kind.
Final Thoughts
An engagement ring is more than a piece of jewellery; it’s a symbol of your commitment and a reflection of your journey together. By understanding these common myths, you’re better equipped to make a thoughtful, well-informed choice that aligns with your partner’s vision and your values.

Choose a Meaningful Location
Selecting the right setting can bring personality and meaning to your photos, whether it’s a spot that holds special memories for you both or simply a backdrop that reflects your style. Here are a few beautiful Sunshine Coast locations to consider:
Buderim Waterfalls — Buderim Forest Waterfalls is a lush, serene setting with natural greenery and flowing waterfalls, creating a magical, secluded vibe. The rainforest boardwalks and moss-covered rocks offer a mix of textures and colours that make for unique, enchanting photos. The cascading water creates a dreamy backdrop, ideal for couples who want a mix of romance and adventure.
Noosa Main Beach — For couples who love the coast, Noosa offers a serene beach vibe with sandy shores and ocean views—perfect for a timeless, natural feel.
Glass House Mountains Lookout — If you’re looking for a dramatic backdrop, the Glass House Mountains provide breathtaking landscapes and views ideal for more adventurous couples.
Choosing a place with meaning will allow you to feel at ease, adding authenticity and warmth to your photos. Another hot tip is to think about the timing of your photoshoot — for a beach shoot you may like to opt for a sunrise or sunset shoot so you can take advantage of golden hour.

Pick the Right Outfits
Your outfit choices set the tone for the shoot, so wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident. Consider neutral tones or soft colours that complement the setting and won’t distract from the ring.
For a cohesive look, coordinate without matching exactly; pick complementary colours and add interest through textures like lace or knits and avoid loud patterns or logos to keep the focus on your connection and the ring.
Feature the Ring Naturally
While your ring is a star of the shoot, subtlety keeps it elegant. Here are a few ways to showcase your ring gracefully:
Hand-Holding Shots — Holding hands highlights the ring while adding a romantic touch.
Close-Up Embrace — A close-up of your hands or arms around each other keeps it intimate while showcasing the ring.
Resting on His Arm — Casually rest your hand on your partner’s shoulder to draw attention to the ring naturally.
Candid Laughing and Leaning — Relaxed poses make for authentic photos where your ring can shine without feeling forced.
Timing and Lighting are Everything
For beautiful lighting, aim for “golden hour”—the hour after sunrise or before sunset—when light is soft and warm. If you prefer vibrant colors, consider a mid-morning shoot.
Pro Tip — Discuss timing and lighting with your photographer. They’ll guide you on how different times of day affect the look of your photos.
Capture the Details
To truly celebrate your ring, add close-up shots that focus on its beauty:
Hand in Focus —Hold your partner’s hand, a flower, or textured fabric for a beautiful ring detail shot.
Reflection Shots — If near water, your photographer might capture creative reflections to highlight the ring.
Ring in Motion — Simple actions like adjusting your partner’s shirt or holding a coffee cup allow glimpses of the ring in everyday moments.

Trust Your Photographer
A talented photographer knows the angles, lighting, and composition to capture your connection and your ring beautifully. Share your ideas but trust them to guide you for the best results. For a memorable experience, we recommend partnering with our talented photographers at Lovers By AVW, Love From Luna, Ben Sowry Photo, and Dylan Pukall.
Stay in the Moment
Lastly, the most beautiful photos capture authentic moments. Focus on each other and enjoy your time together. The joy and love you feel will make each image shine, naturally showcasing your ring.
Meet Our Recommended Videographers
To capture every cherished moment, we recommend working with our talented videographers at Blue Vale Film and Mears Productions, who excel at turning love stories into timeless memories.

Finding 'The One': A Guide to Choosing Your Perfect Wedding Band Style
When it is time to buy your wedding band you will soon find that there are many different types of wedding bands available, offering a wide range of styles, materials, and designs to suit any preference. When it comes to selecting a wedding band, our team at Morgan & Co Jewellery Sunshine Coast are experts in their field.
Just like buying an engagement ring, the wedding band also has many different elements to take into consideration.
Let's take a look at the different wedding band profiles available and their key characteristics.
Bellini Profile
The Bellini profile features a slightly domed top with soft, curved edges, giving a smooth and elegant appearance. It provides a balance between a rounded shape and a flatter profile. Our clients often choose this profile for its bold sophistication. The Bellini profile is a good compromise for those who want some curvature without a high dome. Like all profiles this wedding band can be crafted at any width.
Half Round Profile
One of the most traditional and popular wedding band styles, the half-round profile has a curved exterior with a flat interior. It offers a comfort fit and the classic, gently domed appearance makes it timeless. This is often chosen by couples who prefer a traditional look with a comfortable, low-profile feel.
High Dome Profile
As the name suggests, a high dome profile features a much more pronounced, rounded curve on the top of the band. This creates a bold, elevated look. However, it may feel bulkier on the finger compared to lower domes or flatter bands. The high dome profile is ideal for those who want a more chunky ring.
Flat Profile or Cigar Profile
In contrast to the dome shapes, flat-profile wedding bands have a completely flat surface on both the exterior and interior. This creates a modern, minimalist look with clean lines. Flat bands sit lower on the finger and often feel sleeker. They are ideal for people who prefer a contemporary style without extra thickness.

What profile wedding band goes with what shape diamond engagement ring?
When considering what wedding band will compliment your beautiful engagement ring it is important that the band should complement the shape of the diamond in the engagement ring. Here’s how
Let's take a look at how different profiles can pair with various diamond shapes:
Round Brilliant-Cut Diamond
- Best Profiles: Half Round, High Dome, Flat
- Why: The classic, symmetrical shape of a round diamond pairs well with a variety of profiles. A half-round band offers a timeless, balanced look, while a flat band can provide a modern contrast. A high dome profile will give the ring a more substantial, elegant feel without overshadowing the diamond.
2. Princess-Cut Diamond (Square)
- Best Profiles: Flat Cigar, Bellini, Contoured
- Why: The angular lines of a princess-cut diamond are best complemented by flat or slightly contoured profiles. A flat band enhances the modern, geometric feel of the stone, while a Bellini profile can soften the sharp edges slightly. Contoured bands can help the wedding band sit flush against the square-shaped diamond.
3. Oval-Cut Diamond
- Best Profiles: High Dome, Half Round, Contoured
- Why: An oval diamond has an elongated shape, which pairs well with curvier profiles like the high dome or half round, giving the ring a graceful, flowing look. Contoured bands are also popular to ensure a seamless fit next to the oval stone.
4. Emerald-Cut Diamond (Rectangular)
- Best Profiles: Flat, Bellini
- Why: The clean lines and elegance of an emerald-cut diamond work well with flat profiles, which mirror the stone’s sleek look. The Bellini profile can add a touch of softness and provide balance to the sharp, rectangular shape of the diamond.
5. Cushion-Cut Diamond
- Best Profiles: Half Round, High Dome
- Why: A cushion-cut diamond has a slightly rounded, pillow-like shape, so it looks great with softer, rounded profiles like the half round or high dome. These profiles enhance the diamond’s vintage feel and give the overall ring a classic, elegant appearance.
6. Marquise-Cut Diamond
- Best Profiles: Contoured, Bellini
- Why: The pointed ends of the marquise-cut diamond often require a contoured or shaped wedding band to sit flush against the engagement ring. The Bellini profile can provide a softer, smoother contrast to the sharp points.
7. Pear Shape Diamond
- Best Profiles: Contoured, High Dome
- Why: Pear-cut diamonds have both rounded and pointed ends, making them ideal for contoured bands that follow the stone’s shape. A high dome profile complements the dramatic silhouette of the pear shape, enhancing its unique appearance.
In general, if you prefer the rings to sit flush together, a contoured band is often the best option, especially for more intricate or non-round stones. For a more classic look, the half-round or high dome profiles work beautifully with most shapes. Choosing the right profile can ensure that both the engagement ring and wedding band shine together.
Should I choose a diamond wedding band or a plain wedding band?
When choosing between a diamond or a plain wedding band, both options offer advantages depending on personal style, budget, and how the rings will pair back with your engagement ring.
Here's a comparison to help you decide.
View our wedding band collection for inspiration for your own!
Diamond Wedding Bands
Aesthetic Appeal: Diamond bands add extra sparkle and elegance, making them a luxurious choice. They often match well with engagement rings that feature diamonds, creating a unified, dazzling set. Diamond wedding bands can also elevate coloured stones such as an engagement ring featuring a black or yellow diamond.
Design Options: There are several styles to choose from, such as full eternity (diamonds around the entire band) or half eternity (diamonds on the top half). You can also select different diamond cuts (round, princess, etc.) to suit the stone in your engagement ring. For example a wedding band featuring baguettes and round stones will pair well with a east to west emerald cut engagement ring.
Cost: Diamond bands are generally more expensive than plain bands due to the added cost of the diamonds, especially if you choose high-quality stones or a full eternity band.
Care: Diamond bands require more upkeep to keep the diamonds sparkling. Over time, settings may need tightening, and the diamonds could accumulate dirt, requiring regular cleaning.
Plain Wedding Bands
Timeless and Classic: A plain wedding band is simple, elegant, and timeless. It's often chosen by those who appreciate understated beauty or want something that complements rather than competes with the engagement ring.
Durability: Plain bands, especially in stronger metals like platinum or 18ct gold, are extremely durable and ideal for everyday wear. They are also low-maintenance since there are no stones to worry about.
Affordability: Without diamonds, plain bands are significantly more affordable. This makes them a practical option for those who want a high-quality ring without breaking the bank.
Versatility: A plain band pairs well with almost any engagement ring style and can be worn alone or stacked with other rings later on. Its simplicity makes it a flexible and versatile choice for any occasion.
Minimal Maintenance: Plain bands are easier to maintain since there are no stones that can loosen or accumulate dirt. They can be easily polished to retain their shine.
Consider your occupation:
When buying a wedding band, it’s important to consider your occupation and daily activities, as your ring will need to withstand the wear and tear of your lifestyle.
Here’s how different occupations can influence your choice:
Hands-On or Physical Labor Jobs (construction, mechanics, healthcare workers)
- Considerations: You’ll need a durable and low-maintenance band due to constant hand use and exposure to rough materials or chemicals.
- Best Options:
- Plain Metal Bands: Choose harder metals like platinum, titanium, or tungsten for durability. These metals are scratch-resistant and hold up well to tough conditions.
- Avoid: Diamond bands or softer metals like gold (especially 18ct), as they may scratch or wear down more quickly.
Office or Professional Jobs ( corporate, teaching, administration)
- Considerations: Since your hands aren’t exposed to intense physical activity, you have more flexibility in choosing design and materials.
- Best Options:
- Diamond or Mixed-Metal Bands: You can choose more intricate designs, such as diamond eternity bands or mixed metals (e.g., gold with platinum), as there’s less risk of damage.
- Comfort Fit Bands: These are ideal for all-day wear, especially during tasks like typing, offering a smooth, rounded interior for comfort.
Creative or Artistic Jobs (chefs, artists, musicians)
- Considerations: If you use your hands for delicate or detailed work, you’ll want something comfortable, but also expressive of your personal style.
- Best Options:
- Custom or Unique Designs: Opt for a wedding band with a unique or artistic touch, like engraved patterns or textured finishes. Thinner, contoured bands may also be more comfortable during hands-on work.
- Avoid: Chunky or high-set bands that could interfere with precise movements.
Healthcare or Hygiene-Focused Jobs (nurses, doctors, lab technicians)
- Considerations: Hygiene and comfort are essential, especially since you’ll be washing your hands frequently and wearing gloves.
- Best Options:
- Simple, Flat Bands: Flat or half-round profiles in materials like platinum or titanium are smooth and easy to clean. They also fit better under gloves.
- Avoid: Rings with intricate details or stones that can trap bacteria or be difficult to sanitise.
Now let's take a look at modern, antique, and classic wedding bands to inspire you:
Modern Wedding Band Ideas
Minimalism: Modern bands often emphasise clean lines and simplicity. Think flat or slightly rounded bands made from platinum, white or yellow gold. Designs: Plain bands, matte finishes, or brushed metal textures add a sleek, minimalist touch.
- Customisation: Some couples opt for engraving or using unconventional materials like wood or meteorite inlays.
Mixed-Metal Bands: Modern styles often incorporate multiple metals, such as combining yellow gold with white gold or rose gold with platinum. This trend adds contrast and visual interest.
- Designs: Two-tone or three-tone bands with segmented sections or subtle contrasts.
Diamond Accent Bands: Rather than a full diamond eternity band, modern bands may feature a single or small cluster of diamonds. These designs highlight subtle elegance without overwhelming the overall look.
Antique Wedding Band Ideas
Vintage Filigree: Antique bands often feature intricate filigree work—delicate, lace-like designs carved into the metal. These bands can add a unique, romantic touch reminiscent of earlier eras.
- Inspiration: Victorian or Edwardian styles, with elaborate patterns and fine details.
- Metals: Yellow gold or rose gold, popular during these periods, adds warmth and authenticity to the design.
Milgrain Detailing: Milgrain refers to tiny beaded details along the edges of the band, which gives the ring a vintage or antique feel. It was especially popular in Art Deco designs.
- Designs: Milgrain edging paired with engraved patterns or small diamond accents.
Engraved or Handcrafted Bands: Antique styles often include hand-engraved patterns like floral motifs, scrolls, or geometric patterns. These can give the band an heirloom-quality feel.
- Inspiration: Retro or Victorian designs featuring detailed craftsmanship.
Classic Wedding Band Ideas
Plain Gold or Platinum Band: The most timeless choice, a simple, polished band in gold or platinum is a perennial favourite. It’s durable, versatile, and complements any engagement ring style.
- Profiles: Half-round, dome, or flat profiles are traditional and elegant.
Full circle diamond Band: A classic, elegant choice for those who want diamonds, bands feature diamonds or gemstones all the way around the band. These bands add sparkle while maintaining a traditional feel.
Designs: Classic prong-set or channel-set diamonds for a timeless look.
Half circle diamond Band: For a more understated option, half-circle bands feature diamonds or gemstones only along the top half of the ring, which is both practical and elegant.
- Metals: Available in yellow gold, white gold, platinum, or rose gold.
Choosing the right wedding band style is a special part of your journey, a chance to find something that complements your engagement ring, your lifestyle, and your personal taste. Whether you’re drawn to the timeless elegance of a classic band, the character of a hammered finish, or a unique gemstone accent, there’s a style that’s perfect for you. At Morgan & Co, we love guiding couples through this process, ensuring your wedding band is not only a beautiful symbol of commitment but also a piece that feels like an extension of you.
Your wedding band is a ring you'll wear every day, so it should be one you’re excited to put on each morning, year after year. We’re here to help you explore and try on different options, ensuring that when you find "the one," it truly feels just right. While it may be tempting to go with a convenient chain store option, working with a local bespoke jeweller brings a level of craftsmanship, personalisation, and care that simply can’t be replicated in a franchise setting. Here’s why supporting a local bespoke jeweller like us is not only a smarter choice but also a much more meaningful one.
Custom Jeweller's Design Just for You, Not Off-the-Shelf
At a franchise store, what you see is often mass-produced, designed to appeal broadly. But a bespoke jeweller creates each piece from scratch, ensuring it reflects your story, style, and preferences. Together, we select every detail, from gemstone choice to the setting design, crafting a ring that is as unique as you are— something you won’t find in a display case.
Personal Guidance and a Collaborative Process
Designing a custom piece can seem daunting, but that’s where the experience with a bespoke jeweller truly shines. Unlike the larger stores where sales associates may have limited expertise, we provide one-on-one guidance throughout the entire design journey. From the first consultation to discussing design concepts and selecting gemstones, we’re here to answer questions and ensure you feel informed and confident at each step.
Exceptional Craftsmanship and Lasting Quality
As a local jeweller, our reputation is built on every piece we create. We’re committed to exceptional craftsmanship and source the finest materials to ensure every piece will stand the test of time. Chain stores often prioritise cost-efficiency, sometimes at the expense of quality. But at a bespoke jeweller, each piece reflects our passion, pride, and dedication to creating heirlooms that will be cherished.
Supporting Sunshine Coast Local and Sustainable Practices
When you choose a local Sunshine Coast jeweller, you’re not just purchasing a piece; you’re investing in your community and supporting ethical, sustainable practices. Bespoke jewellers often place great importance on ethically sourced gemstones and responsible production methods. Unlike corporate chains, which may not have the same transparency, we can offer you peace of mind that your piece has been created with care for both people and the planet.
A Lasting Relationship, Not Just a Transaction
With a bespoke jeweller, you’re building a relationship that goes beyond the sale. We’ll be here for the lifetime of your jewellery, whether it’s for resizing, cleaning, or creating matching pieces in the future. Our commitment to your satisfaction doesn’t end when you walk out the door; it’s a relationship that grows as your life’s milestones unfold.
Heirloom Potential and Sentimental Value
A custom-designed piece is not only jewellery — it’s a story, a memory, a sentiment waiting to be passed down. We understand the deep sentimental value these pieces hold, and we design with the intention that they will become cherished heirlooms. It’s a far cry from mass-produced alternatives and a decision you’ll value for generations.
An Experience as Meaningful as the Piece
With us, you’re part of a journey. From your first consultation to selecting the final design, creating custom jewellery is a personal experience that becomes part of the story of your piece. Unlike a chain store purchase, the entire process is memorable, and each decision, moment, and interaction adds to the joy of your finished piece.
Conclusion — Choose a Piece that Reflects Your Unique Story
Choosing your local custom jeweller means investing in more than just jewellery —it’s about experiencing personalised craftsmanship, supporting sustainable practices, and celebrating your own unique story. If you’re looking for something that goes beyond beauty and resonates with meaning, a bespoke jeweller is the perfect choice. Reach out to start a journey that will lead to a piece of jewellery as distinctive and cherished as your story itself.

10 Reasons to Choose a Natural Diamond for Your Engagement Ring
Natural diamonds have captivated humanity for centuries, symbolising strength, love, and status. Formed over billions of years under immense pressure deep within the Earth, their rarity and beauty have made them one of the most sought-after gemstones. But beyond aesthetics, the enduring appeal of natural diamonds lies in the timeless qualities they represent.
Here are reasons to choose a natural diamond for your ring.
1. Unrivalled Authenticity and Story
Each natural diamond carries a story of geological wonder, making every stone one-of-a-kind. Their uniqueness provides not only aesthetic value but also emotional significance, often becoming heirlooms passed through generations.
2. Rarity and Luxury
Natural diamonds are rare by nature, with only a limited supply available globally. Diamonds are formed deep within the Earth's mantle, where intense heat and pressure cause carbon atoms to crystallise over millions, sometimes billions, of years, creating the stunning stones we cherish today.
This scarcity, combined with their unmatched brilliance, solidifies their position as a luxury item. As trends come and go, diamonds retain their status as symbols of sophistication and success.
3. A Symbol of Enduring Love and Commitment
For centuries, diamonds have represented the permanence of love. Their hardness — ranking 10 on the Mohs scale — makes them resistant to wear, serving as the perfect metaphor for unbreakable bonds. This emotional connection has made natural diamonds the ultimate choice for engagement rings and sentimental jewellery.
View our collection of custom diamond ring designs — each diamond ring can be customised to suit you and your budget. Book your complementary consultation at our Buderim custom jewellery studio to discuss your natural diamond engagement ring with our bespoke team.
4. Sustainable Value
While lab-grown diamonds have emerged as an alternative, natural diamonds remain a preferred choice for those seeking long-term value. Their rarity ensures that they maintain their worth over time, appealing to those who value enduring investments.
5. A Timeless Icon
Fashion trends may shift, but natural diamonds continue to symbolise elegance across cultures and generations. Whether worn as an engagement ring, pendant, or family heirloom, their appeal transcends time, ensuring they remain cherished by future generations
6. Sourcing Natural Diamonds: A Commitment to Quality and Beauty
At Morgan & Co, we’re passionate about helping our clients find the perfect diamond, which means sourcing stones that meet the highest standards of size, colour, and clarity. When selecting natural diamonds, our process goes beyond simply finding a stone that sparkles; we’re dedicated to ensuring that each diamond embodies both beauty and value, crafted to last as a meaningful symbol of love.
7. Size Matters: Maximising Value in Natural Diamonds
One of the most important considerations for many clients is the size of the diamond. However, we don’t just look at carat weight; we also focus on the millimetre size of the stone, which influences how large it will appear on the finger. At Morgan & Co, we carefully source diamonds to ensure they have optimal dimensions for their weight, meaning you get a beautiful balance of size and value. This helps ensure that your ring captures attention without any of the weight being hidden in a less visible part of the stone.
8. The Art of Colour Selection
The colour of a diamond has a significant impact on its overall appearance, and we only source natural diamonds that fall within the colourless or near-colourless range (D–H grades) to ensure that your stone has exceptional brightness. A well-graded diamond colour allows for an extra layer of sparkle and beauty, catching the eye from every angle.
Choosing a diamond with optimal colour not only enhances the stone’s radiance but also ensures a timeless beauty. A diamond’s colour may seem subtle at first glance, but choosing a high-quality grade brings out the inherent brilliance, ensuring your ring looks stunning every day.
9. Clarity: The Importance of Eye-Clean Diamonds
Clarity is another factor we take very seriously, as it influences how clean and pure the diamond appears. We prioritise sourcing diamonds that are eye-clean, meaning they are free of visible inclusions or blemishes to the naked eye. By carefully inspecting clarity grades, we ensure your diamond sparkles without any noticeable imperfections that might detract from its natural beauty. At Morgan & Co, we source diamonds that offer the best balance between brilliance and clarity, meaning you receive a stone with flawless sparkle.
10. Certifications for Peace of Mind
To offer our clients absolute confidence in their diamond, we exclusively source stones with certification from renowned institutions, such as the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and International Gemological Institute (IGI). These certifications guarantee the quality and authenticity of each diamond, ensuring it meets strict standards for cut, colour, clarity, and carat. This added layer of certification is our promise to you that your diamond has been independently verified, so you can enjoy peace of mind alongside your diamond’s beauty.
Our Commitment to Ethical Sourcing
We recognise that many of our clients are concerned with the origins of their diamond, which is why we prioritise ethical sourcing practices. All of our natural diamonds are conflict-free, sourced from trusted suppliers who adhere to ethical and environmental standards. This ensures that your diamond not only meets high standards of beauty but also aligns with responsible sourcing values.
The Morgan & Co. Difference: A Personalised Diamond Journey

At Morgan & Co., we tailor each consultation to your specific needs and preferences, guiding you through the options for size, colour, and clarity. Let us help you discover the beauty of natural diamonds, sourced with the utmost care and dedication to quality. With Morgan & Co., you’ll not only have a breathtaking diamond but also a piece of jewellery that will stand the test of time.
The Rising Price of Gold & How it Significantly Impacted the Fine Jewellery Industry
The rising price of gold has significantly impacted the fine jewellery industry. The increase in gold prices impacts the production of gold jewellery leading to higher retail prices for our clients.
Why has the price of gold increased significantly over the past twelve months?
The key drivers that are influencing the increase in gold prices all over the world include —
- Geopolitical tensions particularly in the Middle East and the war in Ukraine. War always heightens the demand for gold as gold is a safe commodity to store as an asset.
- Federal Reserve rate cuts. All nations have experienced rate cuts across the board. The outcome is lower Treasury yields in all developed Nations which makes gold more attractive than bonds.
- Central banks. Central banks all over the world, especially the USA and China have accelerated their accumulation of gold to bolster their reserves.
- These combined factors including the closure of some of the world's biggest producers of gold has not helped.
Due to the ongoing conflicts and political instability several large gold mines have either closed or their operation has been disrupted. PNG, Ethiopia to name just a few.
Why is gold important in engagement ring design?
Gold is crucial for creating well made, sturdy engagement rings. The reason gold is the preferred metal is that it is malleable and a durable metal. This allows Morgan Co to craft intricate, detailed designs while maintaining the strength required for everyday wear. Every woman wants peace of mind to know that their precious ring is safe.
The structural integrity of your engagement ring will depend on the type and amount of gold used in the design and manufacturing.
A higher carat weight such as 18ct gold is softer and more pliable. The amount of pure gold is higher than in 14 or 9ct gold. Making 18ct gold is the most expensive choice when deciding on carat weight.
A lower carat weight, 14ct will include other alloys which makes the gold less pliable but more durable. 14ct gold will cost less that 18ct gold, it is a good alternative to 18ct gold giving the ring durability and not compromising on colour of the gold.
Ring design and gold
Over the past few years the modern trend of minimalist engagement ring designs and the demand for thinner brands have had the added bonus of reducing the overall gold content in the making of the ring.
Many contemporary engagement rings feature more intricate settings or multi-stones, which prioritise gemstones over metal. These design choices allow us to reduce gold usage while maintaining high visual appeal and luxury.
However, if too little gold is used, particularly thinner bands the ring may be more prone to bending or damage over time. A balance between gold content and structural design is essential to ensure that the ring remains its strength while also meeting the clients aesthetic preferences.
Therefore, while modern designs might use less gold, the amount and quality of the gold still play a vital role in ensuring the ring's longevity and strength.
2025 Trends and Gold
2025 will see the chunky engagement ring trend gaining more momentum. The chunky style highlights bold statement rings, with wider bands and larger centre stones, sometimes in a bezel set. While stunning, these trends require more gold due to their size and weight.
The rising cost of gold over the past year adds to the challenge for those who want a chunkier, more elaborate engagement ring design. As gold prices have surged, even small increases in the metal content will significantly drive up the cost of the ring. Therefore, designs that use more gold, such as chunky rings, are becoming more expensive.
Can I use my old gold to make my engagement ring?
Yes, you can use your own gold in the design of your engagement ring. Morgan Co offers custom design services such as melting down and repurposing your old gold. The decision to use old gold can be a sentimental decision, as it allows you to incorporate gold from a family heirloom or old jewellery, creating more meaning within the engagement ring.
However, the process is tedious and time consuming and can often cost more than new gold due to the time it takes to refine the old gold into its pure form.
Gold refining process requires careful handling. We first need to assess the purity of your gold (e.g., 9ct 14ct or 18ct) to ensure it is suitable for crafting a durable ring. Sometimes, additional gold may be needed depending on the design's complexity or size. Most times it is not economical to have your old gold refined to save money only.
Minimalism v's Maximalism: Finding Your Style with Morgan & Co
When it comes to engagement rings, design choices reflect personal taste —whether you gravitate towards subtle refinement or expressive opulence. At Morgan & Co, we understand that every love story is unique, and so is every design journey. Let’s explore two popular styles shaping modern ring choices
Minimalist Elegance
Minimalism is all about simplicity and intentional design. Clean lines, smaller stones, and delicate settings create a refined, understated elegance. In minimalist rings, each detail serves a purpose, with nothing excessive to distract from the beauty of the material or the craftsmanship. Think subtle sparkle: perhaps a slim band with a single diamond or a low-profile solitaire setting that emphasises form and balance. Minimalist rings suit those who value timeless sophistication and subtle luxury. Our Stevie Ring is a beautiful example of minimalist elegance, with a stunning three claw yellow gold setting featuring a high quality lab grown pear diamond.
Maximalist Expression
On the other side of the spectrum, maximalism celebrates grandeur. With bold stones, intricate settings, and dynamic designs, these rings demand attention. Maximalism embraces an eclectic mix of elements—such as halos, pavé settings, or statement centre stones. A maximalist ring is perfect for those who want their jewellery to reflect a sense of individuality and presence. These designs create moments of awe and embody a philosophy of “more is more.” One of our favourite bold engagement rings is The Breeta Ring — this ring features a bezel set emerald in a stunning yellow gold setting with a wider half round band.

A Timeless Transformation: A Recent Custom Engagement Ring Remodel
At Morgan & Co, half of our days are spent with remodelling old and pre loved jewellery, so it was particularly exciting when a client approached us to remodel his wife's engagement ring recently, which he had purchased for her years ago. The original ring, featuring a beautiful oval sapphire and clusters of diamonds, offered a wide range of design possibilities, making the process both creative and rewarding.
View our before and after work remodel work here.
Our Client's Journey
Our client's ring was originally purchased years ago when the couple were just starting out, and it was a significant investment for the husband at the time. Now, years later, having achieved greater success, our client planned to remodel the ring into something that reflects both their accomplishments and his enduring love for his wife.
Our client, who has an incredible creative eye himself, had some ideas and specific elements in mind for the ring but was unsure how to navigate the design process. While he was uncertain about the design for the top of the ring, he was certain that he wanted the band to incorporate elements inspired by the Eiffel Tower, which holds special sentimental value for both him and his wife.
At Morgan Co, our remodelling design process consists of several appointments. The first appointment is dedicated to understanding the significance of the original ring to the client and exploring their vision for the redesign.
Laura, Morgan Co's leading remodel designer, dedicated hours to researching and sketching the initial concepts after her first consultation with our client. All the stones in the original ring were measured and documented, the client was excited to add additional sapphires to enhance the ring’s overall luxurious appearance.
During our second consultation, the sketches were presented to the client, giving him the opportunity to explore additional design possibilities if desired. Ultimately, the client chose a design concept that aligned with his vision and style. After making some adjustments to the drawing, he felt confident in letting Laura refine the ideas further and move forward with creating a CAD (Computer-Aided Design) model.
Image: CAD design Example
A CAD for an engagement ring is a detailed 3D digital model that showcases the exact design of the ring from various angles. It includes precise measurements, the shape and placement of stones, the structure of the setting, and intricate design details. The CAD allows clients and designers to visualise the ring before it's crafted, giving a clear view of how each element—whether it’s the prongs, band, or any decorative details—will look in real life. This process ensures accuracy and allows for adjustments before the actual creation of the ring begins.
In our third consultation, our client had the opportunity to review the CAD model of the remodelling concept. Laura took as much time as needed to discuss the measurements, including the ring's width and depth, how it would sit on the finger, and any changes the client wanted to make, all of which were carefully noted.
There’s no limit to the number of consultations we offer our clients—our goal is to bring their vision to life and ensuring they are 100% comfortable with their ring design and our process. With years of experience in design and redesign, we excel at understanding and refining what the client truly wants. Ensuring their desires are clearly communicated and not lost in translation is of utmost importance to us.
Our final consultation is where we officially approve the design. At this stage, the client is completely confident that the design is perfect, both in terms of aesthetics and structure. We carefully review the final adjustments to the CAD and ask the client to give their approval, allowing us to move forward with production, how exciting.
For this design, we carefully sourced small sapphires that perfectly matched the colour tone of the client’s original stone. We took great care in selecting stones that are precisely calibrated, ensuring that once set, they appear uniform and flawless with no inconsistencies.
Laura, our in-house remodelling design expert, has a true passion for these projects. She thrives on the challenge of reimagining a piece while preserving its sentimental value. If you have an old or cherished piece of jewellery you'd love to revitalise, book your complimentary consultation with Laura here.
Frequently Asked Questions About Remodelling Old Jewellery
Can I use the original stones in the remodelled design?
Absolutely! We can repurpose the original stones, whether they’re diamonds, sapphires, or other gemstones, seamlessly incorporating them into the new design. This way, you can maintain the sentimental value while refreshing the piece with a modern touch.
How long does the jewellery remodelling process take?
The timeline depends on the complexity of the design and the availability of materials. On average, the process takes anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months. After the initial consultation and design review, we’ll provide a more precise time estimate.
Can I add new stones or metals to the existing piece?
Absolutely. We can source new gemstones or metals to enhance the design. Whether you want to add diamonds for extra sparkle or change the metal to match your current style, we can make those adjustments.
Is it possible to redesign an inherited or vintage piece?
Yes, many clients choose to remodel inherited or vintage jewellery. We can modernise the design while still maintaining the sentimental value, breathing new life into family heirlooms.
Will I be able to see a preview of the new design before it’s made?
Yes, we create a detailed CAD model of the new design before we begin production. This allows you to visualise the final piece and make any necessary changes before we proceed.
How much does jewellery remodelling cost?
The cost depends on the complexity of the redesign, the materials used, and any new gemstones or metals added. We’ll provide a detailed quote after discussing your vision and creating an initial design.

Will remodelling damage the original stones or metal?
No, we take great care in handling the original materials. We use precision techniques to reset stones and reshape metal without causing damage. We provide a comprehensive report on the stones, if the stones are fragile we can then recommend to our clients the best course of action.
Can I be involved in the design process?
Definitely! We encourage collaboration throughout the remodelling process. From the initial concept to final approval, your input is key in creating a design that reflects your vision. We enjoy getting to know our clients so we can create the perfect piece that reflects their personality and lifestyle.

That’s perfectly okay, we will guide you through the process, offering suggestions and presenting different design options based on your preferences and the original piece.

The journey begins when you book your free one-on-one consultation at our Buderim studio. Before we meet, we’ll send you an online questionnaire that helps us tailor the consultation specifically to your preferences, style, and budget.
