A Sentimental Transformation: Rhian's Ring Remodel Journey
As co-owner of a jewellery design studio on the Sunshine Coast, I often witness the transformative power of jewellery remodelling. Recently, we had the pleasure of working with Rhian, a client whose engagement ring held deep sentimental value but needed a new look to match her evolving style.
Rhian's engagement ring featured a stunning natural round brilliant cut diamond, but after a decade, its white gold setting felt outdated to her. Her preferences had shifted towards yellow gold, prompting her to seek a redesign.
We collaborated closely with Rhian, understanding her desire to retain the essence of her original ring while incorporating her evolving style. After careful consideration, we decided to add two baguette-cut natural diamonds to the sides of her existing diamond.
What made this redesign particularly special was the origin of the baguette cut stones. The diamonds were originally owned by Rhian's grandmother, making them precious family heirlooms. Incorporating these diamonds not only added sentimental value to the ring but also connected Rhian to her family's past.
When Rhian's mother saw the remodelled ring with her mother's diamonds, she was deeply moved. Losing her mother at a young age, the ring became a tangible connection to her past and a symbol of enduring family bonds.
This project highlights the beauty of jewellery beyond its aesthetics. It serves as a reminder of the stories and emotions that each piece can carry, making them timeless treasures cherished for generations.
At Morgan & Co, we understand that jewellery is more than just something you wear; it's a reflection of our stories and histories. Remodelling old and pre-loved jewellery is a process that goes beyond simply creating a new piece—it's about preserving sentiment and honouring the past.
When clients bring us heirloom pieces, they're not just asking for a new design; they're entrusting us with a piece of their family's history. These pieces often come with beautiful stories and rich histories, and it's our privilege to be a part of them.
The process of remodelling old jewellery begins with understanding the client's vision and the significance of the original piece. Whether it's incorporating stones from a family heirloom into a new design or completely transforming the piece into something modern, our designers work closely with clients to ensure that the sentiment is kept intact.
The result is not just a new piece of jewellery, but a continuation of a story—a piece that carries the memories and emotions of the past into the future. It's a process that is as rewarding as it is beautiful, and we are honoured to be a part of it.
